Quote from: BigGreenField on April 02, 2025, 08:28:24 AM5 teams without a win in opening 2 rounds and 4 of them play each other Thursday and Sunday, early doors but arriving at 3 or 4 games and no points probably starts to get tough going.

St Paul's and Ahoghill to win from these.

Have new rules noticeably improved on field discipline?

By and large I'd say yes. However I did watch and wait on the refs actions after a certain LD stalwart did his usual lambasting and finger pointing at him after the awarding of a stonewall penalty against his side. To my shock and horror (NOT) the ref stood there and took it like a scolded schoolboy, as per.

He can't move the penalty forward much more, possibly a card, I've very rarely seen a penalty not contested after its given

There once was a time when the Johnnies would have been seen as an 'Ulster Select'  ;D  ;D

My take on the video clip of the minor boxing match - very difficult to comment on it 'wisely' as we don't know the full scenario i.e. what was happening in the lead up to it.  The cub should have been red carded (he maybe was?) - you can't lift your hand in that manner regardless of what's happened.

From what I've been led to believe, the lad was tormented all game.  I'd be disappointed if I was the coach of the other team.  I coach and I see part of my role as not only helping to culture and/or nurture their talent but also helping them to be better young men/women with how they conduct themselves on the pitch.  If they are pushing someone to the point of where they break like the number 14 did, then there would be questions asked in the changing room.

will there be any chance to get tickets for the game against Armagh next week ? Not often the All Ireland Champs are in town...

As I said there are lessons for everyone here, the lad that gubbed him will learn restraint, the lad that got his head boxed in will maybe think twice and the coaches will hopefully recognise that if notice that going on that they intervene early.

Anyone know how tickets will be sold for Armagh game? Request through the clubs?

imtommygunn

There looked like a very small amount to clubs. I saw something on one of the club's social media.

It's a small pie to sliced up and by time ulster  council take their share, the squads &staff, sponsors and county board etc get their cut, doesn't leave too many left from under 4000.

Maybe a small bit of punishment from UC for protesting the venue change

They could do with moving it to a larger venue.......  ;)

😀. In saying that, I know an armagh man who has got 4 tickets, but such is life. In fairness, he takes his wife and kids to all of their games all over the country so good luck to him.
