Quote from: Mikhailov on June 25, 2024, 09:39:35 PMI have seen quite a few club league games this year, mostly division 1. Few games were played on different nights, big attendances and most importantly some super individual & team perfornances.

By far the best football to watch
Agree. Club football in Tyrone must be the best anywhere in the country. Hopefully some of the younger lads can step up to county level

If the games were good enough/meant enough then people wouldn't mind paying £65 for a family. God knows we all spend that on other forms of entertainment or days out.
Fact is the product has taken a nose dive in the last 5 years to the point where people are not fussed about the county games.
I also have taken more interest in club games than county this year and the club games are very well attended.

The county game is suffering from over-exposure, there is zero novelty in seeing your club mates/friends playing county any more, and even less novelty in the same lads being unavailable for club when spending extended time sitting on the bench for county, or worse, grant funded training squad fodder not togging out for club or county

The 'product' is tainted, because its being managed like a product, trying to wring every last punt out of peoples pockets and creating a tiered system of haves and have-nots

Everyone is bored of it to a large extent, the club scene on the other hand is more organic/less manufactured and retains the grassroots feel and so easier to feel connected

The Trap

Couldn't agree more Tiempo. We are used to a knock out club championship (never change it) and just can't get used to the way the county championship is run.

I don't know how Tyrone is going to drum support back up for the county team.

Improve the performance and the attendance will rise. I know for one thing, i wont be back at a tryone match until it does. Not wasting my money on performances like that anymore.

Same. The Clare game was an endurance test cost £22. While supporting the team is important you do expect some excitement and standard for that admission fee. A corner back coming up to score 2-2 out of their total of 2-3 in the first half. While the win in the end was comprehensive against a rubbish team, it was dire stuff. I left with bout 10 minutes to go.
The state of county football isn't great anyway. As others have said  club games are much better.

Funny on leaving Healy Park Saturday evening I said to myself, definitely won't be back unless there's new management.

Anyone at O'Neill Park tonight would have seen why club football is more attractive. A thriller with great skill and commitment two teams going at it.. Dungannon - Coalisland 17 points each. For a fiver...
Probably the best game ill see all weekend. They aren't all that good but invariably better than county games with their systems.
£22 to watch Tyrone in the championship in Omagh against Clare. Awful.

Was brilliant contest Donaghy - Paudie Hampsey until Hampsey went off with a shin injury (accidental). James Quinn was v good for Clarkes and for Fianna Cormac O'Hagan, Ruairi Campbell, Paddy Campbell. Just a great full hearted contest. Donaghy is some player tho Hampsey gave him plenty. Kinda broke even.

why did donaghy move from edendork to Dungannon?great feet possibly a yard slow for county but maybe new management team will look at him next year if dooher and Logan step aside?

NotedObserver

Logan and Dooher are staying put?

God14

Havnt heard anything, but starting to look that way

Would have expected an announcement before now

I can't see it. The level of disinterest in the county is having a serious impact on attendance. I don't think I can remember as low a point in a long time. Just a general apathy to the county team.
