Quote from: Milltown Row2 on September 01, 2025, 08:42:03 AMIt's upset you enough to post about
I asked a genuine question. The only thing I asked was how did it take so long to call it or what reason would there be and suddenly people are getting upset over it. It was an obvious breach and I still haven't been given an answer. If you can't answer that's fine. No need to attack people over a question mate

I'm not attacking, you keep saying it was obvious, obvious to you but not those that make the call, otherwise they'd have called it straight away. Management/subs/players and supporters call these things all game, and the vast majority of them are incorrect, its ok to take time and get it correct rather than get it wrong.

First game I did I called it wrong based on people 'notifying' me, ended up the player was getting some water at the sub bench!

Mountain out of a mole hill
There we go. Some sort of answer. How simple was that instead of going off on one the first time around. I'd still like to know the course of action if it was the attacking team and they got a score off it taking time to call. Be brought back and score ruled out surely?

In my clubs opening championship game we had a goal chalked off for not having enough men back and the opposition got a 14 yard free. Went from thinking we were 1 point down to being 5 points down. Felt very harsh at the time and I would like to see it again but the camera angle wasn't looking back up the pitch so will just have to trust the linesman I suppose. Also it helps that we ended up winning the game  ;D

Quote from: thewobbler on August 27, 2025, 11:33:31 PMNewry Mitchels. The kingpins of Down in the 1960s, when Down were the kingpins of Ireland.

I'm not sure that they're entirely folded, but sadly I'm also sure they're not coming back.

I'm not going to relay the full story as I don't know it. But they found themselves homeless, and then ended up in no man's land at the end of an industrial estate. An awful shame.

Where were they before Gerry Brown? Is there not room fo another GAA clubs in Newry, Rathfriland /Belfast Road area?

Bosco, Glenn, Burren, Warrenpoint, Drumgath, Newry Shamrocks all a kick in the arse away from each other (especially bosco and shamrocks) so if they were any good at GAA parents seemed to have moved them to one of those clubs.

They were playing on Derryleckagh Council pitches after being moved but that again would be a Ballyholland catchment area

Lads from the Rathfriland Rd in Newry would have played for Saval too

I could not see Newry people playing for Drumgath? There is nearly 30,000 in Newry, should be another inner Town club.

Thomas Davis have rebranded themselves as a Newry club. There would also be a few Newry based people playing for Killeavy I'd guess

It is April 2nd today

I bet the woman in the photo felt a right tit.

Yep its the right tit

It used to be at the bottom of Grafton Street many years ago.. Any reason why it was moved?

Bottom of the article says it was moved to make way for a tram line

I've a fairly trivial question for the refs and anyone else who might know.

A few times during the Down - Meath match at the weekend a ball hit the stop nets and came back onto the pitch. The keeper grabbed a different ball to set up quickly for his kickout. The ref didn't allow the keeper to hit a kickout until the 2nd ball was removed, which the keeper then had to do because umpires don't seem to be allowed to do this anymore.

If I was the goalkeeper, and looking to waste time, could I just leave the 2nd ball there and wait for someone else to remove it?

Which 4 clubs can win it, surely 4th, 5th and 6th are all equally capable of winning it now?

St. Pat's are the form team at the minute but it may be too late in the season to make up the difference.

Am I right?

Island had a club wedding - we were on to get this game rescheduled from tonight for weeks and went to Co Board but Bredagh wouldn't allow for reschedule. Couple of 1sts available to play but Fielded majority of the 2nds team to play Bredaghs 1sts.

Thanks for clearing it up

Has anyone a link to this Hogan stand speech because it sounds amazing

A ref once told me that a goalkeeper from a kickout can kick it more than once. So technically the keeper could just dribble the ball soccer style up the field from a kickout but he is not allowed to lift it.
Any of the resident referees able to confirm this?

I've been over at a game. They used to have a marquee up for the championship games and hanging around the ground after for a few pints was good craic. Not sure if they are still doing that though.
