the bigger the game the less nervous I got. I feared the early county championship match against the local team more than the AI final or an Ulster final. There was always more to lose in terms of pride etc in the county championship so I always felt there was more pressure in those games then the 'big' games.
The majority of past of present players would also have this view. The logic that you can't know nerves unless playing in front of 70,000 is a flawed one.

Pressure is for tires.

tyres is the correct term. I think unless you've played in front of 70,000 - you can't possibly know what it's like. We'll see how nervous you are then

Plenty of tubes around here, and many full of hot air.

well at least one of us knows what it's like ;) Rare commodity in armagh to be fair

Ye know what, you're so full of shite it's unbelievable.  If you played for Dublin then fair f**ks to you but frankly I think you're a wannabe who lives a sad life behind an online pseudonym who never fulfilled his football ambition as he was the skinny speccy kid who was always picked last and played only if his mammy remembered to pack his inhaler in his kit bag.  You are a parody of yourself living on other peoples' glory and harking back to 'glory days' that probably never even happened.  The only nerves you probably ever experienced was when you were trying to pick up the courage to ask the fat girl to your Debs and then were devastated when she said she already had someone to go with!  Or maybe you were nervous as you wrapped up your first dirty picture in a copy of Ireland's Own in your nan's house!  You're full of it!
Ouch!  :o

Neither is humility despite being used in a sentence somewhere in there!

Can't argue with the facts either Tommy. I'd be insulting intelligence otherwise. Take all the money away - you won't take the culture with you. It's too ingrained now.
"Too ingrained" is incoherent. If Cork hurlers are unable to get their shit together over a decade given the culture down there I honestly  do not see how the Dubs can avoid it. Sporting mediocrity is very hard to understand but it is a fact of sporting life.

Their culture is different to ours.

Theirs is built on tradition , ours is built on structure.

Structure always beats tradition.
How much would a good solid structure cost?

That is the worst performance ever.... Probably watched 6 games this year. But to be totally fair to Stoke they have played the better football, created plenty of opportunities and chased down every lost cause, everything you'd expect a professional team would do.
Scored 2 goals from 2 shots on target and the first goal wasn't from a created opportunity either.

They had plenty opportunities.... Where in my post did I say shots?? They had 3 on two opportunities one on one chances also.... You watched the game?? Or just take down info from bbc website?
they hadn't plenty opportunities and were already 2-0 up when one of those opportunities were created. You must have watched a different game than me.

Cycling in fairness is not comparable to contact sports

Even in terms of the time commitment? I felt like every waking hour outside of work was spent doing something cycling-related.

Yes but not in terms of injury count, recovery, pressure of playing in front of 82,000. The emotional and physical strain for inter county players are a lot greater.
Indentured slaves wouldn't get as much spent on them as Dublin footballers either

Train smart and be winners. We can send you out the manual if you like

3 All Ireland's won in the last 5 years before then 1978 to 2010 Dublin won Sam twice. Some turn around with smart training, should certainly pass that manual around...

If Mourinho goes to Man U the exposure of the club will be much higher and it will be easier to sell jerseys in China.
Win win for everyone !  Kerching !
Is that an opinion of your own or the opinion you read on a guardian article?
It was also in the IT .
Ken Early on the IT has wrote articles for the guardian.

I don't think many Liverpool supporters will be overly concerned with yesterday's result it was just proof that Rodgers left average to poor squad behind. If given time Klopp will win trophies for Liverpool.

You couldn't beat watching the Aristocrats winning another All Ireland Football Final.
For the neutrals watching it was another senior All Ireland final to forget or few highlights to remember.

No win in 6 games for United now and against the less than mighty Bouremouth,Norwich or West Ham. Out of the league cup,Champions league and top 4. Whatever about the style of play in a result business LVG or any of his supporters can have any complaints if he is to be sacked tonight.

I see the Uachtaràn has conceded that abolishing the U21 fupple isn't on following his chats with the Counties.
In fairness to him it's good that he was willing to step back having heard the feedback was contrary to his initial thoughts.
What was his initial thoughts? It was Paraic Duffy that wanted the U21 football grade scrapped and like 2007 he has been left disappointed again.

Jose is still one manager that the English media love and if he was to become the next England manager they would wet themselves with excitement.

Nick Powell??? I just don't see what he brings to the table. Bad result but united created more chances last Saturday that in 3 or 4 games with Rooney up top. Martial especially and Memphis will be top players, the latter a little inconsistent with final ball/cross but we've seen that before. It's just a shame that the Rooney absence has coincided with these defensive injuries so the results have not improved.

I still think it's ridiculous to suggest things are not better than the Moyes era. United are 4 points behind Arsenal and 3 points behind City - anyone would have accepted that at this stage of the season if you'd asked them in August.

Stew - your comments tend towards the erratic anyway but the slating you gave an 18 year old kid there was disgraceful.

Comparing LVG to Moyes is pure nonsense, can't be bothered getting into again. Agree on Powell, don't think anyone gets that as it looked like he was on his way out of the club especially given his reported bad attitude. LVG really needs a good run to get the fans of his back, so many have made their mind up that they want rid.

As for Stew he likes to dish out the sly digs but is unable to take them.

You wanted rid of the best manager in history ffs, no sly dig, what do you think would have happened if he had left in 04?

Go and have a read of my previous posts and explained my reasons, there was a lot of fans who wanted rid of him. It was very split amongst United fans I know, he was doing his job properly and the kick up the arse Keane gave him worked. We had 18 points from 10 games before Keane's outburst and then went onto achieve 65 points from 28 games, a huge improvement.
If the Keane outburst had such influence then why didn't he use this magic to become a success as a manager himself? United were in transition back then and only for Fergie United would have mid table finishes instead of top 3.
