Half time in the Intermediate Connacht final.

The Neale 0-7 Oughterard 0-7. Plenty of goal chances created in that opening half.

Full Time The Neale 0-11 Oughterard 1-16. Strong 2nd half by the Galway champs. The highly rated Matthew Tierney with the goal.

Switzerland at home to Georgia won 1-0. Goal scored on 76 minutes and the Sky Sports commentator said it was a big goal for the Republic of Ireland, i can hear the cheers from here.  Hmm..

Why is setting ambitious goals still seen as a no-no in the GAA? Have we not grown out of this "ara shure we'll turn up anyway" malarkey?
Malarkey like Jim Gavin talking up the likes of Louth and Wicklow before playing them and saying he  and his players aren't looking past that "challenge"

Castlebar Mitchels have announced the appointment of Alan Flynn as their Senior team manager.

Was he involved with Roscommon a few years ago?

None that I know of. Leading Galway to the 2013 All Ireland at U21 level is what he's known mostly for. Was favourite to become Galway Senior manager before P Joyce threw his hat into the ring and he then decided to then pull out of the running

See young Matt Tierney doing very well for Oughterard, will Pauric Joyce be bringing him in to Galway setup for 2020?
Maybe but first he's got another year with  the U20s

A mess no doubt which will likely result in loads of young talented players focusing on something other that GAA.

I'll be surprised if VAR is in place in the PL next season, as said above its a mess and someone at the top should have the sense to get rid of it already.

Apart from fairly soft goal given away Ballintubber defended well, no club side better than Corofin to win tight games though. If Pearses defend well against Corofin it should be a competitive final in Tuam but its hard to look past Corofin winning yet another Connacht title.

Another home win with 3 goals scored both games United missed more chances than they scored. Back to back performances like that a rare sight for United nowadays. The return of Martial from injury is making a difference.

With Liverpool more or less wrapping the title up today and Leicester,Chelsea look good for top 4 finishes SKY and BT will be left to hype up the race to 5th.

Job done in the group stages of EL by reaching the knockout stages with 2 games to spare. Not convinced if United are good enough to win the competition but a few decent signings in January might change that.

Tonights win could come at a cost if McTominay agurably Uniteds best player this season is out injured for a few games.
