Good improvements on the case load in ROI. Seven day average is 2538 cases per day. Just 12 days ago the average was 6539.

The amount of people currently hospitalised is a similar number to last weekend so hopefully that means we have seen a peak and hospital figures will decrease.

Reported deaths is just 3 off last week with 2 days to go. The damage of having 6k weekly cases is seen there.

Sid Waddell condolences to you and your family on the passing of your dad.

At this pace 80 points will win the league which is really astounding.
The points tally of the previous 2 or 3 seasons was not sustainable. Over the history of the Premier League the average points for winning the league was 86. This year's winner should get between 82-85 points which is bang on that average.

Easy to see tonight why Fulham got results over Leicester, Spurs and Liverpool recently. A well organised and drilled outfit and was always likely to take something special to beat them and Pogba delivered.

Great character shown in the first half of this season to win so many games after going a goal behind and now have an unbeaten away run that now equals one of Uniteds best ever teams.

Frank has served his purpose.  A cheap, rookie manager brought in during a transfer ban. It looked good, because Chelsea were going for a young, English manager, going with young players (he had no choice). In reality, no big man would go near it while a transfer ban was in place.

Now it’ll be, so long Frank... hello [insert big manager here]... here’s a pot of money!

Frank (or someone in Chelsea) spent big enough in the last few transfer windows when the ban was removed.

One year at Derby was never enough experience for that type of job.

The owners of Juventus and Chelsea will be wondering right now did they get rid of Sarri too soon or at least should have replaced him with a more experienced manager.

Cavani game is more about movement and is as good of a finisher as any striker in the league but any striker is only as good as the supply line.

United needed first choice winger, it was Woodward and his chief negotiator Matt Judge that chose to waste the summer on just Sancho. On Haaland for as good as he is do United want to deal another Mino Raiola player?

Martial needs to be dropped for Cavani and I honestly don't know whats going on with VDB.  Telles has been a let-down too.

Martials form In the terms of scoring has dipped a lot from last season but his build/hold up play is still good and arguably the best of any United forward. The number 9 role is a tough one at United with the lack of service. No natural wingers or attacking full backs doesn't help.

Van De Beek reminds me of Fred who wasn't seeing much game time when first arrived to now a regular starter. Telles hasn't played enough games to draw judgement

I'd wonder how much United would be ahead in the table if Woodward  had delivered Ole's two priority signings in the summer? A centre back with good pace to allow the team push up and creative natural winger. It's business that could or should be done this month but Woodward won't with United top thinking every is fine

Sadly a record daily high in reported deaths (93) in the ROI today.  In better news the daily reported cases continues to fall as does the daily positive swab count.

Government meeting next Tuesday where level 5 restrictions are expected to be extended.

Bruno Fernandes has made an excellent contribution. Though i saw his stats yesterday against the top 6 teams and they aren't good. He needs to do more against the better teams. He was low key against City in the Cup Semi final

Are those the same stats where two of this seasons top 6 Leicester and Everton was conveniently left out?

United deserved that hard earned point in a venue that few sides avoid defeat in nowadays. Defended superbly, Shaw the clear man of the match. Alisson the busier of the two keepers. First time since 7th of October 2018 against City that Liverpool didn't score in Anfield in the Premier league I believe.

Weekly update for ROI.

Good news, first time in 5 weeks to have a weekly decrease in confirmed cases and decent one at that.

Bad news the weekly reported deaths are sadly back to weekly numbers we got in April.

Cases 25212 (20558 less than last week)
Reported Deaths 268 (181 more than last week)

In hospital 1,928 (476 than a week ago)
In ICU: 195 ( 70 more than last Sunday)

Trump impeached for a 2nd time. History marker clown.

One term.

Lost popular vote twice.

Lost the WH, the House and the Senate in the space of two years.

Ripped tiny children out of their parents arms and shipped them across the country.

Praised the mob who invaded the Capitol building, hunting for the VP and the Speaker of the House, resulting in the death of five people.

Impeached twice.

Worst president ever.

Without a doubt the worst ever president. Fair play to the 10 Republicans that voted yes to get him impeached.

Best of luck to your dad Sid, Galway hospital i believe had a big outbreak in it recently the same in Mayo both had low covid numbers before that.
There was a pretty severe outbreak among staff before Christmas

Personally speaking I've never understood how there could be any sort of foolproof plan to keep Covid out of hospitals and care homes - because of the way it spreads, the living conditions of the staff, and the nature of the care required in hospitals and care homes

The prevalence of Covid within hospitals and care homes is a function of the prevalence of the virus in the community

And that's why we can't live with the virus

The "shielding" proposed by the Great Barrington people was always bunkum

If you want to protect nursing homes the first thing you have to do is control the spread of the disease in the wider community. It's now confirmed we had over 100 deaths this month and under 20 of them happened in hospital which means sadly the majority of them are in nursing/care homes where most was too ill to move to hospital for treatment. The sooner those homes and those with underling conditions get vaccinated the better.
