Maybe they feel less pressure in these secondary competitions and the finishing is more assured? I don't know. Perhaps bucko ranting and raving on the sideline is a problem. Faria looked quite assured last night and seems to relate very well to the players on my casual observances.

I was delighted for Schweinsteiger last night with the reception he got, crowd cheered every touch, and the urgency he showed late on to help create the 4th goal. He looked a little trimmer to me and his abilities are certainly not surplus to requirements in this squad in my view. Also happy for Martial to get a few goals. Should have had at least one more but you could see his confidence rise with the goals. Rooney's rejuvenation is staggering. Playing so badly for so long I assumed he was simply done. His touch was awful, legs were gone etc.....he looks a different player these last few weeks. How long will it last - not sure. He still shouldn't always start but I'm happy for him to be around now. Tony V brilliant again. People underestimate how much of a loss he was last year.....his injury coincided with United's slide. He's like having two players, a full back and a winger.

On a slightly negative note.....I'm having serious doubts about where Pogba fits in with all of this. He certainly was not missed last night. Food for thought. Glad to see Fellaini is not getting game time. Nothing against him, he does try his best, but he's simply not cut out to play in this team. A rare but bad mistake by DDG for their goal but thankfully it didn't cost United.

Finally - Mkhitaryan. I might be in danger of going over the top but this guy looks really special. He looks like he is skating on the pitch, moving the ball with either foot with such ease....I'm excited to see how this develops. His pace and accuracy of play could be the piece of the puzzle that has been missing attacking wise for a while now.

Hull will be tricky. Mickey Phelan will have them ready but United have a great chance of getting to Wembley.

Tough away game to Everton on Sunday. A win is necessary.

Fellaini was suspended and unfortunately think he'll be involved until the end of the season, Schneiderlin's time at OT looks over though; He'll be moved on in the summer or even earlier if he brings someone in come January.

Pogab has been our best player in the last month, I think he's really starting to understand his role.

I was hopeful that at the start of the season our front 6 would be Carrick, Herrera, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Martial & Zlatan for the big game; I'm far more hopeful for the Spurs game that will be the team. I do think against weaker teams teams there's no need for a midfield 3 though and another attacking player can come in.

Clean sheets are an issue though, defensively we've been good the last month and teams aren't creating too many chances against us but we're conceding too many poor game, individuals mistakes are costing us. Valencia has become an outstanding right back and certainly hasn't got anywhere near the credit over the last 18 months for his performances.

We were great to watch again last night, delighted to see Martial back and playing well as along with Mkhitaryan I though they'd be 2 of the best players in the league this season. Rooney's done well the last 2 games he's started, their the best 2 performances I've seen from him since Fergie left; He's certainly benefited from playing with Mkhitaryan. I think Martial will start on Sunday but doubt Mkhitaryan will, can see Mata in for him and Pogba in for Rooney.

Another terrible performance from a referee, he missed the challenge on Zlatan which is clearly a straight red, he missed the kick to Rooney's face which is a pen and then booked Rooney & Valencia when both West Ham players dived.

Rashford is still missing chances though, at least he's contributing though and I'm more concerned with Martial. Pogba has been excellent since the Chelsea game, I'm not worried about him as he'll improve tactically under Mourinho and learn to be more disciplined which is evident in the last month. Given the lack of goals I'd imagine Griezemann will be at the top of Mourinho's list this summer.

I've got no issue with Jose's behaviour and very confident he'll turn it around. I wouldn't have played Carrick yesterday if he was fully fit, Herrera & Pogba can do the job in those sort of games. West Ham only looked dangerous once Fellaini came on. i'd criticise Jose yeserday for bringing Fellaini on but was more disappointed with him keeping Darmian on the pitch, he had acres of space to play in as West Ham realised he is no threat at all.

On the other hand seanie, they're probably pretty close in fairness. Those draws could easily be wins and things would look very different. I haven't seen much of United this season, but are the performances dire, or are they getting better? I remember a few years ago Liverpool were drawing a heap of games, hitting the post about 1,000 times a game, and making MOTM out of opposition goalkeepers. That sound like what's happening with United as well, as opposed to them barely scraping draws.

Certainly getting better, i've really looked forward to games in the last month and we've played some great football which we've not seen in over 3 years. If we weren't creating any chances then i'd be worried but we are and there falling to players who should be doing better who all have pedigree for scoring goals.

Defensively we have issues still and we've conceded goals that could have been prevented. Darmian is not a United player and a partnership of Rojo & Jones lacks height so it no surprise we've conceded 2 goals to headers against West Ham & Arsenal.

Top 4 has gone barring a huge slip up from one of the top 4 which is looking highly unlikely and even then we'd need to go on a great run.

When something keeps happening there tends to be a reason for it. You can't keep being unlucky....I don't buy that. It's up to the manager to sort it out....not kick bottles on the sideline when a guy gets booked for diving and make an even bigger tit out of himself. He's blaming referees and singling out players publicly - it's not good management.

The position United are in is not acceptable. With the additions of the summer and the relaxing of LVG's very structured report you'd have expected major improvement but those figures - 7 points worse off, worst start since 1990.....they're damning. All the time the manager is acting (and I use that word loosely) the clown and making it easy for referees to go against the team. It's at times like this that a manager earns their wages.....but Jose has never had to do this. He looks lost, completely ill equipped to deal with this situation.

It's a weak enough league and United should be up there fighting for it.

MM - I think if some of the other player you mention had been first choice up front for a good run like Ibrahimovic they might well have more goals. Especially with young players, they need a run of games in their best position to thrive. Some things Ibra does are brilliant but he's the big, experienced guy and needs to be sticking more of these chances.

Rashford may have got as many goals but thats about it. I've been impressed with Zlatan's all round play, he's a lot more creative then i expected him to be and I think because he lacks pace he's been unfairly criticised. I do think he's not as good a finisher as he was been in previous years, he should be into double figures in the league but i still wouldn't think about dropping him.

I agree we should be challenging for the title but i'm less worried then I was after the Chelsea game, we've played some great football and are creating plenty of chances. Goal scoring is clearly the issue and Rooney, Rashford, Martial & Lingard have simply not contributed near enough. Those 4 players have been good finishers in previous years yet this season they've only 5 league goals between them is simply not good enough.

Corofin are great to watch especially in the first 20 minutes yesterday where the were exceptional. I thought Sice & McGrath had great games.

Too easy to pick on Zlatan, he's scored 7 goals in 12 league games whilst Martial, Rashford, Mata, Rooney & Lingard who've played 42 games between them have scored 8 league goals; This is the reason why we're in trouble. Zlatan has missed chances too and he should be in double figures but along with Mata he's easily been our best attacking player this season.

Martial has been the biggest disappointment, hopefully he can put his personal problems behind him because if the Martial of last season had turned up we'd be a lot closer to top 4.

Genuine question to the rugby folk on here - what's the thinking behind Conor Murray's box kicks?  It's obviously part of the game plan because he does it regularly, but it just looks to me like he's giving the ball away.  He did it with a few minutes to go yesterday when I swore the right thing to do was stick it up the jumper for a few minutes and run down the clock.

I was thinking that, his kicking over the last 2 weekends appeared poor to me.

At least United are enjoyable too watch for the first time since Fergie left, the first 45 minutes we were superb and exciting to watch but we are continuing to miss easy chances and its costings us points. We're relying too heavily on Zlatan for goals, Martial, Lingard & Rooney aren't scoring goals, they've scored 2 goals in 25 league games between them, they should have chipped in with at least 7 or 8. Rashford has stopped scoring too after starting the season so well.

Top 4 is probably beyond us barring a spectacular collapse from one of the top 4 or we go on a fantastic run until the end of the season and that certainly won't happen whilst we're playing Thursday night football.

Darmian isn't up to it and and Young should have been brought on for him whilst the Fellaini substitution was a disaster and it led to West Ham looking far more comfortable.

Good result and performance last night. Rooney has his best game in about 3 years which was good to see whilst Mkhitaryan showed glimpses of the player I was expecting. Lets hope this is the start of it as I was expecting him to make a huge impact like De Bruyne did. Martial didn't even make the bench last night, hope he can sort out his personal problems as he's been a shadow of the player from last season.

Herrera will partner Pogba on Sunday with Carrick back on the bench I'd imagine; Zlatan & Mata will certainly start and but not sure which other two will start.

He was a world class player but always felt he struggled to control games like Keane, Scholes & Vieira could;

He was a different type of player and his brilliance was what he was capable off in the final 3rd as opposed to dominating games. He was outstanding when he played wide right too, he had some cross on him.

Moving away from WHL has cost Spurs, they've taken 4 points away from home which is normally enough for a club to qualify as long as their home form is ok.

Jansen & Sissoko are 2 poor buys, if they'd bought well they'd be serious title challengers.

United not as strong as PSG. . . How the mighty have fallen  :'( :'(

You'd be crazy to disagree, hopefully 12 months down the line that will have changed although PSG last season against City were a shadow of the team that beat Chelsea 12 months earlier in the Champions League.

A lot of irish supporters doing serious crying on social media. Most would fall into the bandwagon support. Yes New Zealand played on the edge but I wouldn't say they were overly dirty. Cynical yes but not dirty. If Kane and Fekitoa are to be cited then surely Sexton has to be for his high tackle on Barrett.

Going to be an interesting selection ahead of the NZ game.

The problem is someone like me with limited knowledge of the sport is relying on the commentary and listening to the lads on SKY you'd think the ref and TMO were appalling.

Don't mean to be condescending MM. Fans come with all levels and I'm no expert for sure. Just think it's symptomatic in all sports nowadays. Looking to pass the blame off to someone else. We had opportunities we didn't take them. Simple as.

No offence taken at all, I agree.

I'd never heard of Van Der Flier up until a few weeks ago but was very impressed on Saturday. Ireland appear well stocked in that department.
