"but can't work out what Donegal have actually done to be considered a team on a higher level. "

Well winning 8 Championship games from their last 9 is pretty damn impressive. What they haven't done is beat a Cork/Kerry/Dublin - but in fairness they've only had 1 shot at any of them in those 9games.

Anybody know if one exists that can be added publicly?

What price are the standard individual tickets for the Quarter and Semis? ... just wondering what the savings will be for a combo ticket.

Am I right in saying the winners of Tyrone/Kildare will play the winners of Donegal/Cork in the semi?

Yep, Donegal are, simply put, a shambles.
I'll be amazed if we are within 6pts come the final whistle on Saturday.

The only saving grace is that we are at home, I shudder to think what the result would have been if we had been drawn away to Kerry as looked possible at one stage.

J70, not sure about Dunnion but Neil Gallagher and Frank McGlynn are on the mend.

The one thing to be optimistic about is the draw - couldn't really be any better... let the heavyweights in the other side of the draw hammer away at each other, and hopefully we can sneak into the final unnoticed by beating Antrim and the likes of Down or Fermanagh. Plenty of options anyway with the return of the aforementioned players - I suspect figuring out the best 15 to start will be the problem. Dear God, I hope he doesn't revert back to Devenney.  What would be your starting XV?

Great draw for Donegal... if ever the odds were in our favour to win a 1st Ulster Champ since 92, the draw has certainly been kind.
The new manager should relish the opportunity.

while none of the 6 candidates would exactly get your expectations up, at least we should be grateful that there are 6 people who want the job. Its only about 5 years since no one would touch it with a bargepole, and Brian Mc gave it one last spin.

is the draw on today - on which channel?

hopefully someone has mentioned to nicky brennan that mixing the balls in the drum before doing the draw is a good idea.
then again, all the ulster balls have probably been in the freezer overnight... :)

With RTE/TV3 and BBC all showing live championship games this summer, I've lost track of who are showing which live games

Anyone got the complete list for each?

J70, you're spot on about the midfield situation. Lots of square pegs for a round hole.

McIver has clearly used the league to look at all the options throughout the squad, and in comfortably avoiding the relegation battle while doing so, his approach has been vindicated. Unfortunately however, having reviewed all the options I'm not sure there is a whole lot to be confident about.

We have no scoring forwards aside from C.A. McFadden, and the midfield is an ongoing problem. Too many ordinary players in the squad/team, and I don't see us going far this summer. In fact in Ulster right now I would rank Derry, Tyrone and Monaghan ahead of Donegal, with Armagh being on a par with us. So I'm afraid the search for a first Ulster Championship since 1992 will continue for a while yet.

What are the permutations for Donegal to qualify...

Am I right in saying that we need to beat Derry, with Kerry drawing or losing.
or
if Kerry win, we need to beat Derry by 5 pts more than Kerry win.

GAA Discussion / Paintballing injury to Donegal star
November 11, 2007, 10:33:24 AM
Donegal star Paddy McConigley has received the unfortunate news that he will not regain vision in his eye he damaged in a paintballing accident.

The wing-back injured his eye in a freak paintballing accident while on a bonding trip with the Donegal seniors in July. The wing-back can play some part still with his club but admitted the bigger worry is his occupation.

"I have been out of work. I don't know what's happening. I have to make a decision. I know it will be a lot more risky working on building sites.

"Doctors told me they can do no more for me," explained a devastated McConigley.

"I had the operation on Tuesday, was back for a check up and he told me there was nothing more he could do. He said go back training, get a bit of confidence back, no harm in doing that."

The Fanad Gaels clubman played 20 minutes in last weekends Ulster intermediate quarter-final and is hoping he can play some part in today's replay.

"It depends on how the game pans out and if they want I will come on for 15 or 20 minutes. I couldn't give much more than that," concluded McConigley.
