So you are trying to tell me that a great player cant have an off day?

No I'm saying you can't not play a great player just incase they have an off day. Chances are a great player will have a great day.

Tyrone has a long term injury candidate - one of the greatest forwards of his generation returning because hes fit and well again,

Off course thats the reason he wasnt on the panel :D :D :-[

When was O'Neill's last major game of any significance in a County jersey? Yet he is expected to breeze back in and come up to speed automatically for an All Ireland Final? This has the potential to do more harm than good as far as Tyrone are concerned

contrary to the alternative reasons for stevie's absence it is widely known that his absence was down to injury. the conspiracies theories probably came from Tony. sorry, fat tony!!!

could damage morale and create some resentment among the panel, not necessarily a good move at this point

Normally I'd agree, but from my sources, it was the players that wanted him back.

A select group of three or four or every member of the panel? In fairness one of two fringe players wont say anything as they may get the old "if you dont like it f*ck off" line.

Would it have given Mayo a boost to have Ciaran Mc come in before the game against Tyrone.  I for one will always welcome back the great talents in our game.   Its great for Tyrone football, great for this year, next year and for Mickey, Stevie and the rest of the lads.
Tir Eoghain Abu.  Therell definitely be cameras at training tonight lock the gates!!!
By the way it was every member of the panel.

O'Neill returns to Tyrone panel

Stephen O'Neill won All-Ireland medals in 2003 and 2005

Stephen O'Neill has returned to the Tyrone senior football panel ahead of the All-Ireland final against Kerry at Croke Park on Sunday 21 September.

The 27-year-old quit the inter-county scene in January after two frustrating seasons of injuries, amid speculation of a row with manager Mickey Harte.

Tyrone players held a meeting on Wednesday night and voted to accept O'Neill back into the Red Hands squad.

The forward is set to return to county training on Thursday night.

O'Neill, who has been in good form for his club Clann na nGael, is a double All-Star winner and double All-Ireland medal winner.

His return adds further spice to the All-Ireland decider, a repeat of the 2005 final in which Tyrone beat Kerry.

Now that the good friends of the GAA, the BBC, have confirmed it to all the doubting Thomas, I would like a penned apology for doubting my word. Send them c/o Greencastle GAA and I will collect them there. I look forward to reading them all  ;D

Does this mean someone will have to drop off the panel or not be listed in the 30 for the match day?

Jesus Zapatista, you are really starting to confuse me now, all i said was, if SON happens to play and has a bad game, people will say why the f**k did he play him when AN OTHER was sitting on the bench and has been part of the panel all year, and if Tyrone happened to get beat and Mickey sticks with his trusted 15 or 16 players, people will say why the f**k didnt he put SON on, thats why im calling it a poison chalice, Not that mickey will care what people will say, but it will happen

If you believe that every player accepted this 100% you are very naive. Boys probably wouldn't speak out but I am sure there are a few pissed off. Excellent boost for the team but a few fringe players are bound to be gutted.

Midfield is going grand, not winning the clean kickouts but our hoovers dooher, jordan and co ensure we win our fair share. I propose a threeman diamond inside line;

The drool is running down my beard in anticipation. Tom O'Sullivan is supposedly having counselling at the thought of it!!!!

I have never heard such dogs dung! this is a BAD move I would be a big Mickey Harte fan but this throws up all sorts of quandries. I have seen O'Neill play 3 or 4 times this year and trust me he is of the pace. When he gets the ball he still has the ability but his problem is getting the ball. This will be 10 times harder in an AIF. Those who have raised doubts about a unaminous decision are right it is obvious there are not too many footballers on this board. I as is every other footballer is selfish and wants to play. So if you think that anyone who is unsurped by O'Neill will be happy then it is obvious you have never played the game. This will lead to bad feeling as these players who are sidelined are not happy and a few clubs will not be happy that their man is not on the 30 on the big day, understandably so. As for him starting well this is the beard we are talking about so you never know. As you can see I am unhappy about this decision but I am a tyrone man to the hilt so I will back whatever team is sent out Tyrone ABU
