Hope so...it looks like the pick of the games this weekend, tho Tyrone v Donegal could be a gud'n too.
Derry by 12  ;D

We'll maybe by 1.

Game definitely on in Salthill now...

From derrygaa.ie

NFL Fixtures
The Derry v Galway NFL game on Sunday will take place in Pearse Stadium, Salthill (2.30pm).  The game had originally been fixed for Ballinasloe.

Sunday's game with Galway will be live in TG4 and also will be covered on BBC Radio Ulster.

Sun 30th March – Galway v Derry (2.30pm - Pearse Stadium, Salthill)
Sat 5th April – Derry v Tyrone (7pm - Cetlic Park)
Sun 13th April - Donegal v Derry (2.30pm - Letterkenny)

An Fhairche Abu

Galway team named:

A Faherty;
K Fitzgerald, F Hanley, D Burke;
G Sice, N Coyne, D Mullahy;
N Coleman, B Cullinane;
J Bergin, P Joyce, D Meehan;
M Clancy, M Meehan, F Breathnach.

Playing with essentially 3 midfielders, compound this with Clancy and Deccie Meehan I assume keeping the roving duties about the pitch that they have been doing prior to this match, it'll be interesting to see how the forward line works. Not enough scoring forwards there to put up the kind of score needed to beat Derry IMO. Can't see that line-up getting 15/16 scores, 10/11 scores maybe.

Will Burke last the full 70 minutes this match without getting the line?!

Welcome back An Fhairce!  For a while there we thought John Joe may have roped you into some handy county board job :P :P

Agree with you fully in relation to scoring power of the named team. Hard to see that selection getting the required amount to win the game but in fairness to Sammon he has been getting the lads to produce the goods to date so we will have to wait and judge on Sunday.

In fairness Bergin often chips in with a couple of scores when played in the half-forwards. Plus if they get a goal or two they may not need to score 15 or 16 points. They've done alright so far so let's see how they go the next day. Here's the subs anyway. They have scoring forwards to throw on if they feel they need them.

16            Paul Doherty
17            Michael Comer
18            Garry O'Donnell
19            David Finnegan
20            Alan Burke
21            Mark Lydon
22            Paul Geraghty
23            Eddie Hoare
24            Cormac Bane
25            Nicky Joyce
26            Paul Conroy
27            Damien Dunleavy
28            Sean Armstrong
29            Cathal Kenny

Sammon must see the Derry midfield as the weak point - dominate the midfield and the points will come. Unfortunately we don't really have many options in the engine room at the moment - Conway needs to step up this week. Mark lynch is another player who needs to produce the goods for Derry. Have been very disappointed by Lynch over the last 18 months - he is not doing it for Derry.

If Sammon believed the Derry midfield was so weak would he not be confident enough to just go man-to-man on the midfielders rather than crowd the area as it appears he's trying to do?

As regards the lack of genuine forwards on the Galway side, I see Nicky Joyce, Cormac Bane and Sean Armstrong are all on the bench, are they all fully fit?

mouview

Surprised to see Nicky named as a sub - thought his injuries hadn't yet cleared up. Armstrong will be close to first choice if his injuries ever clear up, especially with Sammon being a city man. Bane, much like Breathnach, isn't really the answer to anything, I'm afraid.

I think I'd categorise Sammon's reign a success if he were to win the league - believe it or not I'd prefer to win a league than a (pretty much meaningless at this stage) Connacht c'ship. It's extremely unlikely that Galway will challenge strongly for Sam in the short term, just can't see it happening.

with the team from the last day, I'd say Derry by 7
but with u21 and the couple of family members/friends weddings causing a bit of a distraction it might be tougher for Derry around Midfield for a start. Galway to pray for bad weather, a northern hating ref and a large slice of luck to win this.
When I hear more about the Derry teams state of mind I'd give a more honest prediction.

Still think Derry can win by four , comfortable but missing plenty.

Sure is there any point in us togging out at all. We might as well concede the points now. :'(
