It was for match fixing and the authorities found it harder to pinpoint which matches were fixed in one of the season.

Will be very surprised if the titles are not stripped from them.  How can they keep those titles in their name?  Can't see them being awarded to anyone else though.  No matter how this all plays out, Man City are finished at the top level.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Probably the wildest international break in history?

Don't think however you look at it, there is no justifiable way to punish city - they surely won't be liquidated due to their size.

A transfer ban, alongside a ban from Europe has to be undergone. 900 million in debt is crazy, will definitely force them to sell a majority of their stars. Wonder if those who signed in the summer were aware - seen a report claiming City knew as far back as June they were to be punished, this pulls into question the ethical debates in which they signed these players.

Owners need to be forced to sell, and I also assume majority of players can terminate their contracts in the case of a relegation or significant points deduction.

Can't ban them from Eurpoe as these are two different organisations. Technically they could win the CL this year automatically qualifying them for next year's. Even if they were relegated to League 2 they would still be able to play in Europe.

This is a complete can of worms and could be never ending, the PL are going to want compensation for the cheating, individual clubs can look for compensation and even down to individual players who were relegated or missed out on CL bonuses can go after them for missed earnings. Going to be a bumpy ride.

There's no way the owners can remain. I think the football regulator effectively has the power to remove them.

Quote from: quit yo jibbajabba on October 01, 2026, 12:43:52 PMFlip side. What about a Liverpool team that took that city team to the absolute limits twice in the league, a team that was found to be cheating, what do they deserve?

That's the awkward part to resolve no doubt.

But it still requires a dose of (albeit much less) "if my aunt had balls, she'd be uncle". For it's not as likely Scouse would have commandeered such a points total, had they not faced the pressure put on them by City.

Whilst I don't disagree, in short they've fucked it up in so many different ways. Made a mockery of the whole thing

Tdf wall of fame sits empty for 7yrs due to lance the premiership will now have a similar set of results

Now we have sponsors threatening to get involved, one of the city owners has diplomatic immunity which may complicate things. Goes way beyond football now

Games gone

Null and void is the way to go with those Sham years. And remember they will surely investigate 2019 to present as no way did City stop cheating in 2018.

Punishment should also include those owners to sell up.

Etihad threatening to sue the Premier League. UAE reportedly intimating that UK investment could be pulled. A English Prime Minister couching any criticisism. If this sorry saga doesn't convince people that state ownership of clubs should never be allowed, then nothing ever will.

Even if City DID stop cheating in 2019, everything after that is still tainted. It's not like they underwent massive management and squad upheavel and started from a blank slate that year. Only significant (long term) change that summer was the loss of Kompany and the signing of Rodri. Everything they did in this decade was built upon the foundation that was laid in the 2010s.

The Pl can't make a judgement that relegates Man City into the football league div 1 or 2 and I don't know how that punishment could even be effected in theory, relegating MC to div 1 or 2 is not a punishment option.

Rangers aka Oldco had entered into liquidation, melted for worthless scrap metal, they paid no fines no back taxes, no football sanctions at all were applied etc. Newco (new Rangers) a totally new club was formed, applied for permission to join the lowest league and contrary to the rules and CAS precedent judgements they were allowed by Scot football authorities (aka Freemasons) to adopt all of Rangers' Oldco past glories, plus the name. Whilst Newco could inherit all of Rangers honors, Newco did not have to bear the burden of Rangers' crimes as it was  a complete new entity ,it could neither be be sued nor sanctioned for Oldco's crimes.

What have rangers and the sfa got to do with this?

Andy Burnham obviously in the pocket of City owners.
