Would a Jack Charlton go long with it, with Kane in behind and 2 serious speedy wingers and a massive work rate not work better than there current set up over the yrs. Like Norway outplayed them for long stretches and they a 1 man band.

And they should be.

That was absolute nonsense.

England would be better off with Harry Redknapp or Glenn Hoddle. That's the truth.

Tony Baloney

The first goal was from a Pickford Hollywood save from a ball that was going over. Lovely stuff.

It was very poor from England manager with more defenders on, no one seemed to take any responsibility. Not disappointed with the result but almost anyone with a bit of football knowledge could have sent on the big men to defend and hoped it would work.

Quote from: weareros on July 15, 2026, 10:46:36 PMDid anyone read that Irish Times article than the reason Brazil are rubbish now is because most of their players are evangelical Protestant and were majority Catholic nation when winning World Cups. Two Catholic nations in final (give or take a Muslim or two) . Maybe England need to ditch the boring auld Church of England.

I read that and seen a TikTok about it was very interesting. England need a good dose of Catholicism before 2030 and maybe they'll win

Quote from: tyroneStatto on July 15, 2026, 10:35:13 PMSo in the end England didn't have a better manager than Southgate.

Nope.

They got exactly the same.

Men who would rather lie down than fight.

Eventually England will get a manager who realises they don't have the technique or patience to play other country's football.

That's when the real problems could start for the anti English.

Until then they're just pissing into the wind. Hitting the same again with a different result theory into a theorem.

England players definitely technically as good as most. Is their biggest issue not the attritional nature of their league so they are all goosed by the time a tournament comes around. Their two best players play in other leagues.

And bar  scoring their goals , I thought they were both  very average in this tournament

It was by Ken Early from second captains and he was at least half taking the piss. However they had Tim Vickery (Brazil based for 30+ years) on a couple of days later and brought it up with him and he suggested there may be a kernel of truth. He described evangelical Protestantism as "the death of culture", which I thought was terrific.

Kane yes, but until tonight Bellingham had been phenomenal.

Spain wouldn't have lost much sleep watching either team...

Same 2-1 result after all these years for England against Argentina although the ball won't be worth as much after tonight's game.

No but that Argentina team will kill to win. Spain wouldn't have that with the whole regional thing.

England players are not as technically good as Argentina etc, and I just don't get the Bellingham hype - pops up for the odd good goal, gets the odd yellow card and whips the crowd up - so what?

A great nights entertainment.
