Quote from: GAA Club Fan on June 29, 2026, 11:13:11 AMDo GAA plus show the games in full at any stage this week or where can they be watched back?

No. The tapes go via Shannon to Hangar 51.

Jokes aside If you have GAA+ then you have access to replays for a while. Or pay €15 should work

Thanks sir

Depends where you are. If I'm logged in the Republic there's a different offering to what's available in the North and logging in in GB changes things again.

Quote from: bennydorano on June 29, 2026, 11:48:34 AMYou need luck to win anything, Louth have certainly been getting their fair share, but good luck to them, they've overcome any adversity they've faced to date. They'll be very confident of taking Mayo.

Kerry are also lucky that David Clifford is a phenomenon that stays largely injury free, having a player like that means you can afford to be brave with everything you do or want to try - a point the Pods/media rarely seem to mention.

When Kerry badly needed a few scores on Saturday, they got the ball to Clifford and he done the exact same thing 2 times in a row and got a fisted point each time. He can be relatively quiet but then sparks into life when Kerry need him most.

Yep definitely felt a bit like them drowning and he throws them the aul life preserver.
Unreal. One (slight) criticism would be surely he could be an option for a kickout the very odd time if they're really under pressure with the size of him and leap he has. That last kickout (although he did end up getting on the ball) surely you try to open up the middle and launch one down his throat? He'd be very well rested compared to others given he never tracks back beyond the half way line

Funny you mention the kickout -  just saw a stat there that 16 different Kerry players won possession from a kickout in their game. That was probably on both Kerry and Tyrone kickouts but I don't think Kerry are short of kickout options.
Yeah they're not short is right, just a thought that occurred to me at the time why not have him as an option when under pressure which they were for that last one, worked out alright in the end though.

The more I think about it 16 different players on one team winning a kickout in a game really does show how the game has changed. There's probably a fair chunk of teams in the past that wouldn't have 16 different players winning a kickout over an entire championship, possibly even a year.

Someone last week was saying about Kerry playing with 4 midfielders but I think this says a ton about how hard it is to defend kickouts when pretty much every player on the pitch is a possible target as long as the keeper has a decent kick.

Jeez Monaghan missed Beggan , he plays they win 99 times out of 100.
Fair play to Louth though they stuck in
Got lucky with keepers in last two games and I fancy them to do a job on Mayo
Second game though Galway were cruising after their goal and then simply crashed .
Would see a few of their veterans stepping back .

Louth really got lucky going from Beggan in goals to a 19 year old making his intercounty debut. There was a fairly stark difference in the overall quality of the kickouts which was made worse by Louth's big men around the middle. They also missed him as a scoring threat. Saw he scored 0-21 in the championship this year before yesterday.

Can see a lot of the older lads in Galway packing it in - they've a fair few over 30 at this stage ; especially as Joyce seemed stubborn about staying on in his post-match comments. Conroy, Comer, Walsh, Gleeson, Silke, and Molloy are all over the 30 mark and I'm could be missing more. Whatever about the penalty, Galway were 6 points up and let Dublin score 3 points in a row before the penalty to narrow the gap.

Of course Monaghan missed Beggan but them's the challenges in the game which Monaghan failed to meet on the day. Westmeath had their nr.3 keeper, a young lad in  against us and he did grand. I think Mayo had a debutante against us. Monaghan needed to have a sub keeper ready to perform the kick outs especially in the last 1/4, the rest of the team there to support him and they failed against 14. For example the defensive tackling intensity in the 2nd half  was píss poor, very standoffish. They needed to up the intensity as Mayo did v Meath.

I thought the young keeper did well stepping in for Beggan 60% on his kick outs and some good saves.

The very standoffish play mirrored what Roscommon did in Clones recently it was very surprising to see Monaghan do that in All-Ireland Quarter-final. Did Louth going down to 14 men bring some complacency or did the 3 games in 14 days use up a lot of the energy and Monaghan struggled to produce the
intensity they normally give in these knock out games?

Would you not be disappointed with 60% on own kickouts with an extra man for most of game in Croke Park? You would imagine Beggan is getting north of 80% in same scenario.

ah he absolutely is. The young lad was never going to be anywhere close to Beggan, but he did as well as probably could be expected for a cub being thrown in at the deep end so fair play to him.

Beggan not just another keeper to replace as he brings so much to that team.

Perhaps though once you are 60% or over on your kickouts you generally have a decent platform to win. I think the issues was elsewhere with Monaghan's yesterday.

Galway meanwhile was 48% on their own kickouts and once you fall below 50 it's uphill challenge to win.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

I think this could have been part of it too. Monaghan were 4 up when the red card happened. The chat all season is that a team with 14 men have no chance with the new rules. It had to have seeped into the Monaghan psyche.

Not the goalie's fault.

Monaghan butchered some very good goal chances during the game. If you're not clinical on them chances, you let the opposition stay in the game.

Duine Eile

That was a disaster, so many wrong decisions, from players, management and the referee. Can't understand taking off Molloy, he was having one of his best games in a long time and to replace him with Mulkerrin was a terrible decision. Gleeson is getting an awful lot of stick but in his defence, where were all Galway's big men? Tierney was anonymous, Conroy faded badly, when Darcy made himself available and looked for the ball he caught it, our ability to win breaking ball in those situations is terrible, it's not all on Gleeson.

The final between the only two teams to beat Armagh, that would be reasonable.
Can Armagh claim a Bronze medal out of it?

Quote from: Killala on June 28, 2026, 07:14:19 PMTo be fair Louth are the only unbeaten team of the four. So I suppose they have been pretty formidable to date. Would love to see them in a final but Mayo might be due good fortune. Would be happy for either to make the final.
Getting a team in their 1st semi-final since 1957 is fortune enough.  After losing to Tyrone they got good fortune to draw Division 2 opposition in Meath who went to pieces with 14 men and Cork who's shooting was woeful.

Louth's season has similar vibes to Fermanagh in 04 who Mayo narrowly beat in the semi-final after a replay.
Fermanagh beat Armagh in the q4 and meant that Armagh team won just the 1 Sam.

A lot of  counties  would bite  your hand off for one Sam
That Armagh team had the quality to win 2 and it was qualifiers.
I think I saw a documentary where the goalie said that Fermanagh was the
game they really should have won.

16 different Kerry players won possession from kickouts either clean or via breaks is stat I saw. Everyone focuses on the finishers but that ball winning capacity is key and why I give the Dubs a fair chance at it.

My ideal outcome is Dub V Mayo/Louth and Mayo /Louth winner.

Yeah it was there for us that year. 2003 and 2005 were sickeners obviously. 2006 we were well beat and then Mattie Forde was unreal in 2008.

Should definitely have won at least another with that team. Will be a bit of a disappointment if we don't get beyond a quarter final again with this team at the minute

Just watched the Keith Evan's block onGAA fb. The angle they have is class. What a block.

Only caveat is that he was helped by the arc as if it was at a different time of match or inside arc McKernan would take another step to take him out of play but he had to stop himself to ensure staying outside the arc.

In saying all that it's a great example of desire, determination and will to win. A great example for youngsters!

DaleCooper

Cringed when McKernan decided to go for it but suppose no one else would.

A shame McCurry didnt get lined up

McDaid brutal. Its a bad sign when guys are giving it to Molloy to score tbh even though he was doing fine.

Walsh ran into 3 Dubs at one stage. Crazy decision...he may have got a free but ref seems to think he was buying one.
