We have entering a decade where All Ireland titles should be shared among a handful of counties. Last ten years Dublin won the All Ireland 7 times, Kerry 2, Tyrone 1.  The next ten years could well be shared out among 4 or 5 counties. 

I said that two years ago before any new rules was brought in.

Armagh,Kerry,Mayo so far and a 4th or 5th different county should win the All-Ireland in the next 7 years.

5 different counties this decade do far.

As opposed to 4 in the decade previous.

4 the decade before that.

8 in the 90s though.

Funny you say  that, but I remember around late 80's or early 90's  in the NFL, they trialled  four quarters and goalkeepers   kicking out  from the hands.

Also taking sidelines and frees from the hand.

Anyway it's a lot more exciting having a scatter of teams around the same standard than having 1 superteam dominating for years.

No you didn't.

Absolutely that was the case. Keepers having a bucket of sand by the goals too to make kicking tees! 

I reckon we are in the 90's style game at the minute and there will be at least 1 more 'new' winner this decade,  my money is on Cork for that.

Haven't commented on the game itself but huge congratulations to all the Mayo people. As people said the likes of Farr and Lar will be dancing in heaven but also former posters like Muppet and that are also dancing ...

A fantastic win and a fantastic performance but it's amazing how something can just come together. An amazing team but it may not be the best Mayo team in terms of ability that has been in a final. What won it for me was the maniacal workrate that is the hall mark of Paddy Tally. They played like Tyrone did against Kerry on the 2005,  hunting in packs and tackling just in the edge. Having a ref like Martin McNally was very much to their favour on that as he will allow it,  Pat McEananeys protege earned his place in history.

A final for the ages, to close out a season for the ages. Probably the most fitting way to end what has been the best season in my memory in terms of entertainment and quality. Roll on 2027!!!

Could the likes of your Clares Tipperarys Wexfords be inspired by this or will hurling always reign supreme?

Tyrone should definitely be aiming to win an all Ireland in the next 3 years.

Will McGeeney and McGuinness change their style of play?.... looks like they have no alternative.

Funny McGeeney was saying on the OTB final special "there is no defending now its a shootout" ok so why not play that way.

I think its difficult to take mayos 2pt approach as fans may get nervy, then that can feed bk to team BUT if your plan is "play the 2pt percentages" you can relax a bit knowing itll come good.

Also, teams who are playing this strategy are going to get more efficient and confident over time.

Expect a lot of counties to up their 2pt shooting next year, at county level lads should be clipping them over with relative ease, bar the odd cloven hooved midfielder/half back, some of the 2 pointers are going over with miles to spare and we've seen some whopping points by the top players in recent years and over the years, the 2 pointer really has paid for itself as it both rewards risk and improves the spectacle

Mayo had 4 2 pointers, workrate and the Paddy Tally swarm. They also had 3 scoring forwards.

I wonder if any clubs will change tactics.
