Junior Ex Laoistalk

It certainly would be a novel final and I wouldn't begrudge either team winning it.
Graiguecullen are always there or thereabouts but whatever happens to them in finals is hard to imagine and thats right accross the club at most levels.

Their Junior C team were beaten by Stradbally on Wednesday last after extra time but having a Stradbally Ref certainly helped them and was totally unfair and thats coming from a neutral supporter. But its just another defeat in a long list of finals for that club so would be nice if they could win the Senior this year but Port will be very hard to beat in a semi especially now that they have most of their better players back in the fold.

Courtwood have been the surprise package this year but they are playing great attacking football with no fear and could very well be there on county final day but St Josephs are serious opponents and will fancy themselves against Courtwood. Interesting times ahead....
Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!

Courtwood after their surprise win over Portlaois should fancy their chances against St.joseph and may get to the county final for the first time, Graiguecullen are knocking on the door for the last few years should have no fear of Port having beaten them already this could be there year. Graiguecullen v Courtwood for final ?

Graiguecullen won't keep it kicked out to port.

That's a stupid post, no need for that. Respect both teams.

SCFC

Prediction time.
Just can't see beyond a Port v Joes final.
Fair play to Graigue and Courtwood for getting to the semis but think both will come up a little short. Port seem to be peaking at the right time of year yet again and adding players to the squad each game. 60 years since Graigue won a senior championship. Would be a great year for them to do it. They'll need everyone at full tilt tomorrow.
Emo and Rosenallis to win the B semis and Crettyard and Ballyfin to contest the relegation final.

The PRO

Tipped in to the B semis today.
Very poor fare. Emo did well to fight back to win but it was a hard watch.
The second game was a little worse. Rosenallis hardly raised a gallop. A very early and very late goal to take the bad look off the scoreboard. Narky enough game at times too.

port 1-15 graiguecullen 0-6  i wasn't running down graig but anyone knew about laois club football knew they won't keep it kick out to port as it turn out.

Smellyball

Id reckon Courtwood will win Narrowly agin Joseph's.

SCFC

Didn't see that Courtwood result coming to be honest. Fair play to them. Think they lost the corresponding game last year by 12 points or more! It wasn't a brilliant game but doubt if that will concern them.
Joseph's were very disappointing. Missed O'Flaherty a lot but the return of James Kelly didn't really seem to help them much either. Hickey at 6 very good. Daly tried hard. Thought Tyrell, Dunne, Kinsella were good for Courtwood and Byron from dead balls was the difference.
The other game was worse. Graigue were so bad in the first half. Port were never in a battle and eventually pulled away. Jason Moore brilliant again.
Expect them to win final by 6 or 7.

Pugwash

When you look at the Graiguecullen panel listed and you see certain names still springing up either from the start or off the bench, it's very telling. I could name 4/5 from their starting 15 that would struggle to start on a good junior/inter side if you were to base it on footballing ability and not how far or fast you can run. Yet, year in year out the jersey is kept. It's sad.

I reckon for the first time since the late 2000s/early 2010s they have a good group of young lads all in and around the same age 18-21. The priority should be to start and develop as many of those lads now and hopefully reap the rewards in years to come.

What happens in a big urban area like Graigue is that many of these players end up being lost to the soccer or pack it in for a few years and they'll spring up playing Junior later in life. They understand that even with the commitment the old guard will play anyway.

You don't go 60 years without winning a Championship if all was well. Especially with a club of the pedigree and size of Graiguecullen.

Port like they've their mojo back and could well dominate again in Laois for the next 3/4 years.

oneshot

port could well win the next 3 titles in fairness it wouldn't take much to win them the standard is shocking.

Leixman

Didnt get to the game but watched jr on Clubber. What a final. Lads on tv contributed to it also but seemed to be fantastic crowd and atmosphere. Port will feel hard done by at the very end but think a draw was fair. Looking forward to the replay

While all the concentration is on the final free that wasn't and Pat Roe was giving out about it there were plenty of decisions that didn't go Courtwoods way too over the course of the game. Refs miss stuff that's the game. It all tends to even out. It was a great final and fair play to Courtwood who went to to toe with the champions and were unlucky not to win and lucky to draw.

Saint88

Exciting end to the game but the quality was low. Portarlington are there for the taking the next day. If they play to previous standards they should win comfortably but maybe they just aren't able to get to that level anymore. All teams come to the end at some point.

Sideline12

It a long time since we have seen a good county final but today Courtwood and Port served up a great exciting and entertaining game, great battles around midfield, some big hits, some great blocks. Courtwood having beaten Portlaois and St.Joseph's proved that they weren't afraid of no one, they went toe to toe with the champions, Courtwood were very unlucky not to get another goal or two, but fair play to Port to come back in the last few minutes to draw level and go ahead until the last free for Courtwood to draw level, a draw was a fair result, so Sunday 2 weeks it is,let the battle begin again.

the sash

The county board have changed this replay fixture to suit Robert Tyrell at courtwoods request and the county board said oh yes there could be a player welfare issue here as he will tog out for camross in the hurling final next week.On page two of the programme today it clearly states that a replay would be on Saturday the 18th.
The county board will once again look like some stooks when he won't play a minute of time in that hurling final.
If it was the same club it should be accommodated but not for two separate clubs.
There most be an alterior motive here.
