Derry Dublin 93, second half would do 🤓

It would be great to go back in time and watch Cavan win the All Ireland in New York. Does your time machine go back that far?

Have to go for the first All Ireland win 2003: wasn't the best match but the atmosphere was unreal and despite the doom merchants Tyrone & Armagh supporters got on brilliantly. Remember running across the field on the final whistle. Sheer unbridled joy. It had been a long wait. Will never be another first time.

Can't pick between 02 and 24. 02 you sort of felt it was coming and we'd obviously had success in Ulster and just pushed on. 24 very few in the county gave us any hope and no one outside the county gave us any.

02 always special given it was the first ever, but this year was great too given a fair chunk of our younger support either weren't born when we last won even an Ulster or barely remember it, never mind winning Sam.

1991 on the Hill, that day will never be beaten. As a 15 yr old it was something I thought I might never see.
The next night in Newry was pretty special also. I think it meant alot for all the counties of the north when Sam came back across the border.
I'd be happy to see one more and have my kids there to witness it with me.
If only every county could experience it.

I wouldn't wish anyone to have to rewatch the 24 final!

I didn't think it was as bad as it was made out to be. Some great scoring. I don't see an issue when teams play to their strengths.
The pundits who slate the game want the ball played aimlessly up to the full forward line only to come straight back down the pitch.
Alot of the people who complain about the quality of gaelic football will rave about rugby which can be a very tedious game with very little happening.

The record books won't say it was a good game or a bad game, just that armagh won it.  Who cares, as long as you got over the line.
If I remember rightly 03 wasn't a great game either.
At the same time it was a poor final with galway in particularly very poor up frint

For me it was the 05 semi final. Not because of the result. It was the magnitude of the occasion. Two Ulster warrior sides at the time, up there with the best to come out of the province.

The football was good too. The subplots were hard to keep up with. McGeeney was taken off early. McDonnell's goal and him wrecked with a chest infection. O'Neill hitting the penalty in the same spot for the 3rd time against Hearty. McGeeney's point before half time.

But what struck me was the atmosphere. The air was wavy with tension and excitement.

I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Although it was a semi, it was the 2005 final in everything but name, everyone present knew it and the occasion met expectations ... apart from the result.

No way, an excellent kerry team in the final could have beat Tyrone on another day.  Not sure armagh would have beat then tbh

imtommygunn

I always thought Tyrone were comfortable enough that day. Much the better team.

89 ai hurling semi v Offaly for me.

tbrick18

Hard to pick a favourite.

The 1992 Ulster SF, Derry league champs vs Down AI champs. The atmosphere was electric in Casement.
'93 AISF against Dublin. After that game the final actually felt like an anti-climax. The Johnny McGurk point will go down in history.
94 Derry v Down when Derry were AI champs. One of the best games ever played - unfortunate to lose it and ultimately the fallout from Eamon Coleman's sacking after that game probably cost Derry a shot at further AI's in that decade.
Derry keeping then AI champs Tyrone scoreless in the first half in 2006.

Non-Derry moment - 95 AI final with Charlie Redmond not leaving the field and Peter Canavan (aka a 1-man Tyrone team) losing the final on a missed free ;)
Meath vs Tyrone in 96.

seafoid

Galway in the finals of 1980 (hurling ) and 98 (football).
