Starting to get a clearer picture of what the games will look like. Second team in each group will host a third-place team.

So far we have the following at home

Tyrone

Louth (Unless they beat Kerry tomorrow, then Kerry second in that group)
Armagh/Galway loser, with Galway if a draw tomorrow
Mayo (unless they beat Dublin tomorrow, then Dublin second in that group)

And they'll play...

Derry
Monaghan/Meath winner tomorrow, Monaghan if a draw
Roscommon
Cork

*There is a chance of Monaghan finishing second in their Group and Louth finishing third...for that to happen the margin of Monaghan's victory when added to the margin of Louth's defeat must exceed 20.

From a Tyrone perspective we'll likely be playing Derry, Monaghan (assuming they beat Meath) and Roscommon. I'd be looking Derry to light the fire and create a cracker of a game.

Draw takes place Monday morning.

Hate to say it but not many ties would wet the appetite there. Not even Derry V Tyrone. There is something sterile about the Championship this year.

Should be top 2 through only. Pointless having groups where all teams nearly go through.

Derry and Tyrone would be great. Be some implosions on here. I dunno who Joe brolly would support either  ;D

Reminder on tie-break process in case Louth and Monaghan end up on equal points tomorrow.

When Teams finish with equal points for Qualification for the Concluding Stages, or for Promotion or Relegation, the tie shall be decided by the following means and in the order specified:

Problem with that is that you're gonna end up with dead rubbers for the 3rd game. Harsh expecting teams who have lost their first 2 games to hang around for a fortnight for a pointless game at the end.

An Watcher

Would mickey get a nice reception in louth if that draw came to pass?

Rossfan

Will Louth be allowed to use Inniskeen for a knock out game?
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

It's just a slow death for so many counties. It's incredibly boring. And we have the 2nd and 3rd placed teams burned out with 3 games in 3 weeks, leaving the normally seeded teams with a handy quarter final game.

Only those three words were  needed.

A knockout last 16 would  have been better  than this group nonsense . And matches could have been spread out more

I agree the group stages have been a failure for the most part. Just no interest in them.

I've said it before, if only 2 or 3 of the third placed losers went through that would increase jeopardy hugely and still minimise dead rubbers.
4 group winners straight into quarters, two best runners up straight into quarters and the two best 3rd place teams go into prelim quarters.
Tiebreaker on teams level on points across groups to be determined by league placing.

Not sure why people get so exasperated with lads getting more games. Derry obviously a bit of an exception because of the workload of the Glen lads for a very prolonged period of time, but otherwise these teams are well able to play a game every week, or almost every week.

For the people who only want knockout football, well good news, it's coming and in spades! A couple this weekend and then full blast knockout from now on.

Clearly some intercounty fans don't give a hoot about club football, but it's as if we've totally forgotten that the main reason behind playing games every week was the huge momentum from GAAmemebership as a whole that club is the lifeblood of the game and we need to be letting the players back to the clubs when the weather was still decent and giving every county time to run off their club championships.
