Diaz Hernandez absolutely outrageous in the triple jump. Edwards' record might go.

He's definitely got it in him. It's whether or not he can relax enough to let it happen.

He lost him. Put himself in a poor position there and commentator thought he was gone.

Another great night and nice to not be geo-blocked in the north.  RTE must regret not having their panel in the stadium, it would capture the atmosphere even better.

Gillick does a great job interviewing the athletes. He has a great talent at consoling or celebrating with them. I watched the mens 100 relay on BBc to check out their coverage and they really gave themselves a mouthful trying to say "team great britain and northern Ireland" every time baton changed hands and throughout the race, never mind the fact that not one athlete from the north is representing GB&NI. Christ almighty, just say Britain.

If the commentator just said Britain then:
  • Jim Allister would burst a blood vessel
  • Carla Loveheart would bolt from the stable
  • Jamie Bryson would publish a book
  • Kate Hoey would spit out the lemon she is sucking
  • Gavin Robinson would smash an egg
  • GB News would ignore it
  • Arlene Foster would raise it in the House of Lords

Any athlete from the occupied six who completes for GB is guaranteed a medal. (Not for a top three finish, but for services to the King etc etc)

Hillock is a fantastic interviewer. I read his book recently and tbh it was grim enough reading. It definitely wouldn't encourage you to want your kids to go towards elite sports. Interesting read but just a bit sad.

At mark English's medal ceremony they called it Republic of Ireland not Ireland but had it corrected for adeleke's medal ceremony.

There's a good chance Healy could get a medal tonight. Hunter bell will be too strong but *if* she believes in herself there is no reason she can't get silver. She is hugely talented but needs to back herself more.

First time I realised there was an issue with Ireland or ROI.

Now there's the one to really raise an eyebrow at

imtommygunn

Yeah - it is a remarkable trajectory alright.

A few quicker girls than I thought in this. Be tough enough but hopefully we can at least be close to medals...

weareros

Poor tactical race by the two Irish women. Healy got out muscled a bit there.
