Think this exact year is not the strongest Tyrone one. last 2 U20 winners, and minor last year but they're gone and the minors young, but this exact grouping of Tyrone at age 18-19 were beaten by Cavan at minor level in 2024 in the B All Ireland. Still great we got the win, just have to temper it slightly. Tyrone a one man team last night

Absolutely right. You'd just be delighted to see us picking up a win of any stripe against Tyrone, in these hungry times for Cavan county football teams. There are a few lads on the team that have a decent shot at coming through to senior too. Will be interesting to see how they fare against the other sides now.
It'll be big for the group regardless, and was good to hear interviews after when they immediately shifted focus to Armagh next week. As long as we don't fall in love with ourselves for beating a Tyrone team once, and instead use it build up to doing more

It didn't follow up last night. Not at the races at all and outclassed. I thought while it was a good win against Tyrone they looked limited and didn't look fully up for it. Edwards who done well against Tyrone was largely anonymous last night.  Dugdale tried hard.
Cavan mainly reliant on frees from dobson. No threat in the forwards.

Armagh v Tyrone has been labelled winner takes all but I think if Cavan beat Down and even if Tyrone beat Armagh - Armagh would still top the group and go through as group winners (unless there is a huge score difference swing).

It's very deflating all round. We'd have gone into that game on a bit of a high and then got our arses handed to us. Some very erratic form by a lot of teams so far, though.

I think in that scenario it would require Tyrone to win by 6 points to top the group. Armagh currently on +26 and Tyrone on +16. Cavan scoring difference too much to enable them to finish top.

With the quick fire nature of U20 Championship playing in a QF could actually be beneficial in terms of getting a team to gel/ more cohesion, having said that a home venue Semi is a big incentive too. Depends where a team is with injuries.

I think some of the media like Paul Fitz putting the Tyrone win as sensational was a bit ott. A lot of their team from last year was gone. And maybe not the same intensity as when it was a knockout competition.

I'd imagine he's as desperate for something positive to write about as the rest of us. Any ould turkey would look like a majestic swan for Cavan at the minute  ;D

Monaghan beat Tyrone by a couple of points in the minor league today, same two could end up the Ulster Championship final.

I was at it, decent game given the elements and very wet field. Tyrone looked to be cruising early in second half then Monaghan stormed into a four point lead with some excellent play. Don't know who he was but their No 13 was really impressive.

Was ticking into injury time and Tyrone scored two two pointers to bring it level and then had an utter brain fart giving away blatant breach leading to a tap over free for Monaghan to win it.

Fair play to Monaghan who deserved their win. It'll be carnage when a big title or game is on the line and the winning/losing score comes about through a breach though, massive anticlimax.
