To tell you the truth, it doesn't really matter. I don't watch either unless it's for Sport.

I'd never watch a current affairs or political programs on either.
You will miss RTE when it is gone, warts and all. If you aren't worried by a concerted attack on public service broadcasting wherever it exists, that's your lookout.
Public service broadcasting is under pressure everywhere. ITV was valued at £15 billion a few years ago. Now it's valued at £2.5 billion. Talks are with Sky to sell the TV business.
Because people are streaming and getting their news on ticktock.
