Not to throw a spanner in the works, but anyone think Katie got lucky with her gold in London. I thought the Russian had won that and by the sulk in her face afterwards and arms folded, so did she.

Katie Taylor won the 2012 final fairly convincingly .  I think the scoring made is seen easier than it was but no doubt she won well ,

I was at the fight and thought it was tight enough, there was a very nervous feeling in the air til the result was called.

Regardless of how poor the decision was against Conlan today I think he behaved like a dick afterwards..

A stiff upper lip there old boy,  what what....

He said what the world was thinking and as a man just robbed of 4 years hard work and a potential gold medal,  I'm glad he called them out

Put it like this, I was relieved she got that decision! But it was very tight and with the old scoring system so its at least a bit more transparent.

I didn't think her defeat was half as outrageous as Conlons. I still can't believe how he lost that first round.

He didn't. Why you mean is you can't believe how the judges awarded the round to he Russian???

It needed said. Hopefully his outburst will get plenty of airtime and create a few headlines. Hopefully highlight the problem. I'm not watching Olympic boxing again. What is the point whenever the result has already been decided. It's going to push more people to the pro game instead no doubt.

Has there been any international reaction to the fight, or are we viewing it through green glasses?

No, and I doubt there will be.... In fairness bar the boat people, we've been dung...
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Shit decisions are as old as boxing itself in both the amateur and professional codes. In the big scheme of things no one will remember it in the long term except us..

This is a big story if the judges are corrupt. I'd imagine that would be newsworthy. And have we been 'dung'? I know the medals are few and far between, but how are the performances pb wise? That diver must be doing well, and the hurdler tonight.

Yeah he should have just bowed down and accepted the corruption. God knows there is enough political correctness in the world and people afraid to call it as it is. That interview was the highlight of the games for me, a young lads dream and 4 years of dedication destroyed by administrators who had pre determined the result. Pure raw emotion spelled from him and he didn't say anything that wasn't true.

It wouldn't matter if everyone got pbs. It will be medals that will judge it. The English are having some laugh at our silver medals.

Check CompuBox on Twitter for the stats on the Russian who was gifted the heavyweight gold last night. Watched that fight live and it was an even greater travesty than the Conlon decision. One of the judges in that fight was an Irishman too!! Would be an interesting interview to hear his reasoning as to how he possibly give the Russian the final round when he was absolutely pummelled.

Will be interesting to see CompuBox assessment of the Conlon fight. My guess is that Conlons wasn't as blatant but will still show that he clearly won the fight.

The Brits were fairly certain he was robbed as well!

Compubox says Conlon won 2 rounds to 1 but they gave the first round to the Russian and the last to Conlon, clearly. I am very surprised by that as I was sure Conlon easily won the first but a lot of his punches must have caught glove.

Not entirely true, Paulie Malignaggi, Billy Joe Saunders, Sergio Martinez, Matthew Macklin and Sonny Upton (to name a few) all had a say about it on Twitter. And it wasn't to congratulate the Russian lad.

Bollix. Any competitor that goes out and gets an SB or PB is doing well, if you're performing at the top of your abilities, tthat's as good as you can do.

Dunno what the English have to do with it tbh
