It was another Russian in the heavyweight final and it was worse than the Conlon decision today. It would make you think that names are on medals from the outset, that article from the Guardian could well ring true and is an eye opener.

I don't know a whole pile about boxing but to an untrained eye it seemed like he won the first 2 rounds comfortable and then last one was maybe even ish at worst! The poor lads will be in bits after that as his heart was set on gold for sure. It been a terrible couple of weeks for the boxers.

Unfortunately Conlan had to win the last round by a mile, as they were always going to side with Russian in a close one.
Have the judges definitely been nobbled, or is just coincidence?

Russia have been proved to be systemic cheats at the Olympics - their participation was a joke and anyone who thinks that they would only use drugs, rather than bribery and corruption is being naïve.

Just as an aside, does anyone know why Katie isn't being trained by the father anymore? I haven't heard anything at all about it.

BTW if is anything of a personal nature for her, don't bother telling me - just wondering was there sporting reasons or was he closely associated with Billy Walsh?

disagree..you swing widely for 3 minutes you will catch your opponent at some stage. He landed a couple clean, but as with the rest of the bout, Conlon was clearly the far better boxer landing the lions share of the clean hits. Incredible decision

Jog2, thought the Russian knew he just had to keep it all inside in the third and when he did pop up he hit Conlan with at least three, clean good shots, and opened up a cut.

Still and all, I'm not a boxer and I do think he was robbed.

whatever about the ins and outs easytiger, he was dealt a poor had by the judges indeed. Will be gut wrenching for the young man

At least under the old system it was transparent and give less scope for corruption.

Apparently he was absolutely blessed to win his first fight against a Thai boxer. Got another gift today.

Used to be a button system where scoring punches were counted by a button press by a judge and to score a point enough buttons had to be pressed within a very short time frame. Now it's a 10 points must system.
