Any argument for scrapping the arc and letting 2 pointers be from beyond the 45 only?

Why would this be better?

Hitting a two pointer from out wide is hard enough with the arc. Putting it out of reach for anything except a centre shot will just put us back into packing the middle.

I thought the whole point of the two pointer was to encourage long range score taking and free up space inside.

Conor O'Donnell and the like will not be driving through for those spectacular goals on the run if we go back to jamming up the centre.

Two points from kicking the ball over the bar outside the 40 metre arc, where you are under physical or potential physical contact or a block, yes I'm all for it. But not under no physical contact and getting time to execute your technique for a 2 pointer free. Think its just unfair. However I realise if frees were not two pointers team would foul alot more to reduce two pointer opportunities  so I settled what was best for the game and accept the two pointer free. But the two point free when the ball has been brought forward fifty metres, then you get to take the ball back outside the arc for a two pointer is just and an abomination. I watched a number of club games last year in the cship where the breach was questionable and the ball then moved 50m and then to put oil on the fire they get the two pointer option ffs, no way.

Definitely an argument for removing the option for breach frees all right.

I rather 2pter be outside the 45 alright, might be rare enough scores, but big score like N Grimley point fews yrs bck.

In the final? Grimley was inside the 45. At most he'd have been a few yards beyond the new arc.

Yeah he definitely was well inside, would have been a mark.

Rian hit an brilliant one against Kerry in the semi from outside the 45, went out and demanded the ball and fired it over at a time we badly needed a score.

I can't stand  the 2 pointer, but I would have compromised and  had it from a  sideline only.

Like they did in  hurling a few years ago.

Because theres nothing special about most 2 pointers we're seeing especially from frees, yes they're good scores but too easy to justify 2 points for.

I'd prefer scrapping the 2 pointer altogether but outside the 45 would at least be more challenging and maybe more worthy of 2 points.

All I can say is that I hope you lads with your complaints about all the changes represent a small minority.

Because the game is done if it regresses back to anything close to the dire, boring snoozefest it had become a couple of years back.

Just my opinion, obviously, but I'll not be watching, and I'm pretty sure I'll not be the only one.
