Quote from: marty34 on April 09, 2025, 12:24:13 PMMaybe controversial here but I'd bin them college All Stars and all county academies up to U16.

No need for them at U14 and U15 at county level.

I'd love to see how many of these academy players at U14 etc. actually go on to play U20 for county level.

Percentage would be what?

Then move that on to senior county level - players who play U14 academy then goes on regularly to play senior fo their county.

I'd love to seeca report/study done on that.

Let the clubs develop them

Taking Tyrone as my example - the only player I can think of that came through county 20s and Seniors without being on the Academy squads coming through was Conor Meyler. I can't think of anyone else that didn't come through the 15/16/17 development squads into Minor and U20/21 level and then into the Senior Squad.

Onthe40

surely we have other examples of lads who came into minor, 20 or senior squads that weren't in academies?
3rd year and making an u15 squad hardly defines you..

Big mix up in the Oisin mc grath, general consensus was cbs won, ref had it down as a draw, going to a replay. Ulster colleges twitter had the score down as cbs winning then went back and changed it.

Was at the game, CBS definetly won. Scoreboard at the game was wrong and caused the confusion amongst players and supporters. Not sure what the referee's excuse was for having it wrong, very poor from him. Ulster Colleges editing tweets score updates is far from the best look either. Anyway at the minute a replay scheduled for Monday, but surely the video of the game will be used and clarifed Omagh CBS as the correct winners.

Yeah, you'd think so. I'm sure CBS would lodge appeal against a replay.

Maybe the 2 pt score causing an issue.

Anyone got the video?

I'd a game the other night, gave the score to both sides at half time, the home team came out at half time thinking they were two up but only one up even though I told them..

Been to many grounds that have scoreboards , with the time and the score being put up, there is only one scorecard and one clock that matters at the final whistle, I'd say throughout the year I'll correct the scoreboard a dozen or more times.

That's not to say I've over the years miss called a game.. I assume this game had umpires and linesmen? one or two of the other officials would be taking the score, which is normally what happens.

I'm sure the video will explain it

What do they do in a case like this?

Ulster Colleges GAA sit down today and watch the replay of the game?

Or as they've called a replay, then it must go ahead?

Doesn't happen to often.

Yes he had his own squad of umpires at it

I thought you couldn't challenge any decision relating to the awarding of a score which I suppose this technically would be. Would Omagh even want to win it through a protest?  Personally I'd use it for motivation for the replay but I may be alone in that view

Well I'd say he's had at least one of them doing it, be rare enough for both of them to get it wrong

Was old rules in place. Issue has come from the referee putting down an Omagh CBS point as a point for Maghera. So Omagh should have won by 2 in the end. The referee went and corrected the scoreboard to the incorrect scoreline that he had - so it is refereeing error, a very big one at that.

Why didn't it go to extra time?

Ok, so it should be sorted out without a replay then. However, this is the GAA and anything is possible :(

Mick Bustin

We had a referee in a club game over the weekend who thought the home team was the away team and the away team was the home team. Told everyone the away team was winning at half time when they were actually losing by a point.
