Belfast rising?

Antrim will only rise when Belfast does.
What are you basing this on?

Antrim has been in the ha'penny place for a very long time. Strong Belfast, weak Belfast made no difference.

Hectic

Long long time since we had a proper strong Belfast with a number of different city teams competing for the top prize.

We have had strong teams like St Galls and St John's who had periods of domination but I can't remember too many championships where more than one Belfast team were being predicted to win it.

Antrim were in 4 Ulster finals between 1946 and 1951. In that period the senior football championship was won by Rossa twice, St John's twice, Éire Óg and O'Connell's.

A great problem to have, what you generally do is a) own it and b) make it your bitch

1983-89 saw St Galls, St Johns, Sarsfields and Rossa

1991-94 saw Rossa, Lamh Dhearg, St. Galls and St. Pauls.

I dont think our county won a single championship game between 1983 and 1994.

First ever post here. Interesting to watch the debates and discussions around the development of the county. Whether in jest or not! It was definitely good to see two Belfast clubs in a senior football final. I hope it drives standards and encourages all other clubs to step up, from Division 3 to Division 1. The whole country-city divide is less of an issue these days. Good luck to all those representing Antrim in Ulster. At Senior and Minor.

The county team will improve if ALL clubs have the infrastructure and development plan for their players at all levels and grades. Support is needed here for some clubs, pitches,  coaching support etc.

In the short term, I also feel that we need to have a strategic review regarding how we can improve the schools' game. For many, school football is the highest level that they are exposed to on a regular basis. All due respect to our club game. Club competitions should be finished by the end of September at the latest to allow those schools who really want to push on an opportunity to do so.

Wonder will the hurling all stars go ahead or do we have to wait until the intermediate final gets played

I did notice Cargin had already made changes to their backroom staff last year. If they are looking to improve this year clearing out ALL looks to be the best idea
