I think the ideal solution here would be for the high court to ban the march over some silly legal mistake that wee Seamie made

U be bck to the full band wagon walking down it in 5-10yrs if u let them go down, abit at a time. The easiest solution was ban in place as before. But this  could put the North back 20yrs if other multi  parades are now allowed.

It's actually depressing that an organisation founded as an anti-catholic organisation with a history of triumphalism and invoking violence against catholics and nationalists is given any legal rights.
The KKK could claim culture but wouldn't get away with it.
The OO is an equivalent organisation in my view, hiding behind Christianity.

This walk home emotive language they use shouldn't be given the time of day.
The culture is one of superiority and dominance over their lesser neighbours.

Imagine a parade through a protestant area by nationalists on the way home from mass where they were praying for a UI, whilst flying tricolors and playing rebel tunes. It wouldn't be tolerated, nor should this in legal or moral terms.
They use words like tolerance, but why should anyone tolerate an organisation that at its core is anti the very people being asked to tolerate them?
Its mental.

A sustained anti parade, anti OO pr campaign should be taken to inform the world, especially our American friends, of the true secterian nature. Hopefully isolate them, and increase pressure on the British government to accelerate UI discussions.

Yep the walk home bollocks sickens my head.

We just want to shut your road down, show you who's boss, need a massive police presence and the list goes on. It's our right isn't it? You are a bigot if you don't agree.

Whole thing sickening but what do you do. Ignore it and get on with your life all there is for it.

Well put, especially the bold bit.

As I said before, send the Portadown lodge the policing  bill for this march , and this  issue goes away.

Quote from: trileacman on September 26, 2026, 10:00:12 AMSadly The solution to this is violent protest. A outbreak of disorder and violence would show the parade commission that this march can't go off peacefully and result in it being banned again.

This is how f**king stupid the solicitors on the parade commission are. Their decision means that the Garvaghey Road residents are actually encouraged to violently oppose the march. Why we put legalistic pricks like this in charge of serious decisions is beyond me.
As much as you'd love to see them beat off the road and as much as it's what they deserve, you're only playing into the hands of Lockhart and Bryson etc, they'd love nothing more than to be able to say those dirty fenians can't even let a few men walk up a road peacefully.

Why are you giving a f"&k what Lockhart and Bryson think or say? No nationalist should ever contemplate their feelings now.

My feelings are for the people of the Garvaghy Road who have to suffer this once again.

We all know the reason why they're looking to march down that road.

Which would be a narrow, local victory for the Garvaghy residents and an untold calamity for nationalism everywhere else. Allister, Robinson, Bryson etc WANT  violent disorder, which they will legitimately able to claim was started by the taigs having a go at "honest god fearing men" simply going about their traditional, legally validated business.

Byrson and Allister want the same thing as the OO, to tr@mp over nationalist communities. One riot this year would prevent another OO march down Garvaghey for the next 30 years.

From RTÉ

Judicial review proceedings started at 12.20pm this afternoon and were adjourned 20 minutes later.

Counsel for the Garvaghy Road residents said it was unclear whether what the Parades Commission determination had said about the PSNI position was the entirety of what the PSNI had told them.

They have asked for the full police advice to the Parades Commission and previous PSNI advice in relation to earlier determinations to see what, if anything, had changed.

Judge Patricia Smyth said the matters in hand were "very important" to wider society and community relations.

She said it was important that the case was dealt with properly.

She told the parties she would like to hear from them when the case resumed on a possible way forward in the little time that was left.

A further appeal to the Court of Appeal may also be needed if the outcome at the High Court is not accepted by the residents or the Orange Order.

It is too rushed this as well. Make a decision on the Friday with it on the Sunday. There would have been an appeal either way.

Considering how many people were murdered the last time this was in the headlines, your post is pathetic. Pathetic and ill thought on many levels.

(As an outsider looking in) Its  impossible to have an informed opinion having not lived in the north during the Troubles and not having been subjected to decades of sectarian harassment/anbuse and one sided policing.

There's no good outcome to this.

I'd say 90% of those proposing to march down the Garvaghy Road wouldn't darken the door of a church the other 51 weeks of the year

Yeah exactly. It's her job though.
