Im not getting this boys. Would you rather qualify and play Argentina - or not qualify at all because you tried to avoid Argentina in the next round and fucked your qualification all together.

This has draw written all over it?
Uruguay hold the firepower in the pre-match standoff,  gaining at least a draw would guarantee Uruguay to finish first.  Both Mexico and Uruguay fancy their chances in this game and because of that, there is a pre-match bargaining impasse.
If Mexico go in a goal ahead at half time, then they are not going to do a deal.
But if Uruguay lead at 1/2 time -  then it's a win win for them, they have the Mexicans by the goolies in the half time negotiations -  to let Mexico draw level in the game and finish 2nd in the group.

I hope Spain don't live to regret not sticking 6 past Honduras.  They need to be much more ruthless.  There is really no need for half a dozen passes inside the box.  As an old manager of mine used to say "FFS get the head down and bury it!"  No harm to Torres but he looked way off the pace.  By the way how did yon boy Navas get on the Spain team??

If Uruguay draw do they win the group??

Spain are in serious trouble, I fancy the Swiss to beat Hondouras so it effectively means Spain have to beat Chile leaving three teams on 6 points.  I suppose what I am saying is Chile will be happy with a point against Spain which puts the Spanish out if the Swiss beat Hondouras - phew!

Personally I think Chile are out. The Swizz firepower or lack of, being their only saving grace.

I agree. Spain and Switzerland will both win their last games by a couple of goals, edging out Chile. Would be tough on Chile to go out on six points, especially when there are teams like Portugal that are likely to go through on as little as four.

If the Swiss win & Spain beat Chile, then Chile are out? Who would finish top  of the group?

John Terry getting a lot of flak from the English Press.  Not his greatest fan off the pitch but I reckon he's been dumped on by the 7 or 8 other players who had a drink with him after the Algeria game and when the proverbial hit the fan all backed down leaving Terry (not for the first time) exposed.

I dunno why but I have a feeling in my water that England will go out.  After all Glen Johnson hasn't given away a penalty yet!!  Though the strange thing is that it's possible that a team in Spain's group will go home having got six points and England could go through with three points. :-\

There's a hundred and one permutations. I reckon a Spain, Switzerland one, two is most likely. Could come down to goals scored, never mind goal difference.

Of all the South American teams (incl Mehico), Chile are the team I have least taken to, but should they be overtaken by the Swiss, it would be a travesty of sorts.

I think Chile could well frustrate Spain.

I see the betting for the Uruguay v Mexico match is 11/4 (each) for the win and 10/11 for the draw ;D

Catch the high ball

Are the two 3.00 games being shown live on BBC and ITV or RTE and same for the 7.30 kick offs?

I know that the Argentina game is on BBC1 and the other game is on BBC3.  I think ITV is going with the same this afternoon, France SA on ITV1??

Mexico vs Uruguay is on the RTE website if you have access to good web access.  Unfortunately we have to watch SA vs France but hopefully SA will roast them.

None of the other 7-8 players that had this drink with him stood up in a press conference and openly challenged their manager. The nature of team sports means that there will always be voices of dissent especially when when things are going badly but its usually done behind closed doors. There is no evidence anywhere to suggest these players appointed him as spokesman to publically air their grievances.

I didn't think it was possible for him to fall any further in my eyes but somehow hes managed it

How Terry sank the knife into Capello:

"On behalf of the players there's no unrest in the camp at all. We're obviously still disappointed from the game the other night, but we have to pick ourselves up and we have to win the game on Wednesday," said Terry.

"We're all behind the manager, we shouldn't be looking at excuses or criticising the manger. All we can do as a group of players is stick behind him. We're here, we're supporting and we are fully behind him. We know we've got his support as well and that's the main thing.

"I'm not going to sit here and question the manager. All I can say is I'm here on behalf of the team and players and we're all fully behind the manager. Since the manager has come in he's had his ways and his philosophies that he's brought to the side.

"That's worked in the campaign and nothing should change from that. We've got to stay unified and stay together and get the win."

He was then asked if he thought Joe Cole would liven up the team and he said "Yes...if he's picked I'm sure Joe will do a great job"

Domenech could show Capello what a real revolution is like!!  Storm in a teacup IMHO.

BTW if Terry is ballsing up England's chances the he has gone up in my estimation ;)
