Id have to maybe agree. Fair play to the man for forgiving her.

Hpw can you forgive infidelity? Peter speaks about 40 years of marriage, did Iris not care about that same marriage when she was seeing someone else? If Peter had a backbone he would give her the road. Infidelity is the end of a relationship.

*cue rush of small minded t**ts who'll revel in his torment to make crude and in no way witty jokes*

f** him

Why? Because he's on the other side of the fence it's great craic that his life has been destroyed?

I also said 'they have shown zero tolerance to others who have fallen short of their fundamental morals.' Eg: Iris's gay outbursts.  I suppose you were gutted about fundamentalist hypocrite Paul Berry's demise as well.  ...longrunsthefox

I'll kindly point out here that your original post consisted solely of "f**k him..." and the rest was edited in afterwards.

They? Iris yes, what did Peter do? You said "f**k him...," so we're talking about Peter here. When has he ever come out with any rant about morals? He's always been too sharp a politician to even contemplate airing his personal views on potentially controversial moral matters

I always thought Iris was like that... she has the look... who was the bloke shafting her???? :D :D

Then the whole til death do you part is not the unconditional profession of love that it is meant to be.

Is it then, til death do you part (unless you shag someone else)?

No doubt some couples arent built to move past an infidelity - but if the man is trying, I would commend him for that. It's not easy.

As yet there is no issue of public concern, until there is they should be left alone and given the space and privacy to deal with their personal problems. Snide remarks and prurient jokes demean the individuals who are indulging in them. I've stated why I think it is in the public interest. I'm not making any comments about Peter, just Iris.

Surely the hypocricy in relation to her comments on homosexuality make this a public interest story?

But really in what way? It was evident her comments were atrocious - but who took them seriously anyway?

Just because she's a hypocrite and we all know it, doesnt mean it warrants more discussion?

She is hardly getting away scott free here.

She should have resigned when she made the 'abomo-gate' statement (and repeated it). Chickens come home to roost. He should boot her, but God forgives her so that's OK.

I don't watch this with relish (especially with vultures like the Dodds' dynasty and our wee Jeffrey lining up) but I shed no tears for Iris.

I think it does. She's a public representative and went out of her way to have a go at gay people - for no apparent reason, whilst at the same time, by her 'biblical' standards, she was doing something equally bad. I'd say what she did was worse.
