Mini Biography
After Grade Three at Primary school, Patrick moved to Andersontown, West Belfast because his grandparents were sick. After 6 years there, he moved back to Melbourne in August of 1999. He unsuccessfully tried to land an acting career in Ireland and only due to his parents encouragement did he pursue it in Australia. He had guest roles on Blue Heelers and "The Saddle Club" (2001) and also did a Red Rooster commercial before landing the role of Connor O'Neill on "Neighbours" (1985). He began shooting for that in November of 2001 and his first episode aired on 19th April 2002.

I'd guess because they character was from South Armagh (for some unknow reason) and Crossmaglen is well known...

Hahaha how random.   Maybe someone in the production team has relatives (great-great-great relatives) from there or something.
