Hmm, have no idea what that is about. I connected the ipod back to itunes and a msg appeared saying that the ipod was corrupt, and to restore to factory settings, which i did, started syncing, got 3/4 of the way through then it froze. No error msg this time. I think it may be wrecked

Well

My ipod is stuck on the "Do not discount" screen and iTunes is not recognising it.
Does anyone know how to reset it?

Press the middle button and the top of the wheel at the same time for a few seconds until the screen goes blank, you should then see the Apple logo and it will start itself from there

i've a quick question about itunes. dont know if its been covered yet already?

i already use itunes on my laptop to get music onto my iphone.  both me and the wife have got our daughter and ipod nano for christmas. now obviously she doesnt listen to the same type of music that i do.  I'm wondering if it is possible to have two seperate itunes accounts on the one laptop and if so how?

i tried to log in as a different user and download itunes again. i got a message to say that itunes was already downloaded on this system and did i want to continue. i decided not to as i was afraid that it would wipe all the songs on my current itunes.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say that you need to enable the manual management of files, rather than 'autosynchronisation'.  My two kids use the computer at home for their iTunes accounts and they like completely different kinds of music - I've heard no complaints from them about it.

lurgan blue..the way I did this for me, the wife, and our kids is to set up playlists for them e.g. Mary's Music.  Copy the music your wife wants from the library to that playlist.  Then ask the iPod to sync music only from that playlist to your wife's or daughter's iPod.

Thanks lads, I'll give the new playlist a go and see if that works.

There is another better way which you can set up a completely separate iTunes library... hold the shift key when clicking the iTunes icon and it will ask you if you want to choose a different itunes library or create a new one. At first you create a new one then you can switch between them using the shift key every time you restart iTunes.

Lurganblue - I have separate usernames for me and the wife and also separate Itunes accounts on each username. You should be able to do this without any bother.

so if i download itunes as a different user it shouldnt wipe what i already have on my own account?

Minder

Lurganblue - No it shouldn't, I have about four different Itune accounts on my computer, all as different usernames.

What do you need 4 iTunes accounts for Minder? Up to no good as usual ;)

For iTunes experts, is there a catch with emusic.com (offering a significantly cheaper alternative than iTunes)??
