Apocalypse Now.

Closely followed by Full Metal Jacket.  Anyone got an opinion to offer?

Saving Private Ryan takes a bit of beating.

The 1st 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan is probably the most spectacular piece of cinema I have ever seen.

Black Hawk Down is one of the best I've seen...others are The Deerhunter....and The Longest Day......

Not a true "movie" but Band of Brothers is the best war depiction I have ever seen.

Band of Brothers was f**king awesome but it wasn't a film.

Besides, it was a Speilberg version of events!!  Try telling the Brits it happened like that!   ;D

That's just unfair citing Audie Murphy, a bona fide hero and a top class actor.  Although he ain't no Lee Marvin.................................

Safe to say you aren't a Dambusters or 633 Squadron fan?

Band of brothers was amazing. Probably the best TV show I ever seen.

Whats the Thin Red Line like. I have it on DVD but have never watched it.

Black hawk down is another clinker as someone mentioned.
Owen Roe O'Neills GAC, Leckpatrick, Tyrone

Tony Baloney

I like bits of all of them. I think Full Metal Jacket loses something the longer it goes on, hard to beat the training camp scenes. Likewise for Apocalypse Now - I'm not really fussed on it after the boat trip.

The first twenty mins of Saving Private Ryan is amazing, especially in the cinema or with surround sound.

Overall though I have to say I love Platoon from start to finish and although I've seen it about fifty times, I'd still watch it again now!

The Watcher Pat

Escape from Sobibor is a great war fild....Anyone who wants a lend of it PM me and i will post it to you...A really great WW2 film.
There is no I in team, but if you look close enough you can find ME

Saving Private Ryan
Full Metal Jacket (I'm going to put on the dvd now, havent watched it in ages)
Enemy at the Gates

Love the first 20 minutes of Pearl Harbour too, the battle scenes, though the rest of the film is average.

Oddly I never really liked Platoon.
