What poor referee will be in charge of this? Hope he's prepared to have his name forever tarnished.

Thankfully Pat McEnaney cannot ref this one.

And what does that mean exactly?

Only remembered about the minor match being between the 2 teams when reading this thread. That's a nice co-incidence and saves a trip to Newry the next day.

I presume Monaghan will go in as favourites to this one?

Pretty 50/50 game I would have thought. We looked better against Tyrone than they did against Derry. They've beaten us twice in last 2 years in the League but both have been very tight matches.

It wouldnt be fair on Pat, he wouldnt know who to support. He`d turn up carrying an Armagh flag but wearing his Monaghan jersey.

I reckon Armagh will go in as favourites actually.

Good coincidence with the minor match surely, it would make perfect sense to have a double header but you never know with the GAA.

Thought you were having a moan right enough but just wanted to confirm. Not sure where this fiction that McEnaney favours Armagh comes from. Anyway if you're looking for a referee to disadvantage Armagh, look up whoever was in charge of Armagh v Down last year.

Clones gives us some advantage  but not as much as the Gaelic Grounds would give Armagh.
Armagh I guess will be slight favs, they gave some decent account of themselves against Tyrone and still look to have a bit more championship class than Monaghan.
But this a first round qualifier,  can be a strange enough game, losing teams trying to get on track again. Monaghan have a bit of experience down this route. I think Armagh got pipped by Donegal in the 1st Qual rd 2007.
It's the team that comes in better prepared which will shade it.

Athletic grounds wouldn't give us too much of an advantage. None of the current squad have played championship there and we've had two league games there in the past decade, both defeats, one of those was against Monaghan!

We got beat by Derry in 2007 who had just been beaten by Monaghan, Donegal beat us in Ulster.

We beat Monaghan in the 2001 qualifiers I think?

One problem folks,  The minor game is an Ulster Council game.  Qualifier is an All-Ireland series.  Ulster Council will want their own gate more than likely.  Where it is the logical thing to do,  dont be suprised if it is not on

Just realised this is a duplicate - sorry bout that.

The other thread is a converted thread, already tainted by a splurge of orange.

1) There was nothing wrong with the other thread  :(

2) There is no better ref that Pat McEnaney

3) I've been invited to Lady Captain's day at Moyola on 4th Juy  :(

If they don't come to some sort of an arrangement, then they are a complete disgrace. I'd be livid if they try to play the 2 matches on different days on the same weekend.

Yeah, see this is just the type of thing I was worried about. If they do this then they really are of a shower of w*nkers.

If this is the case then season ticket holders might get a decent seat if the Ulster Council aren't allcoating the tickets. Could also scupper plans for the minor match being on before hand as the Ulster Council won't be getting their gate for it.
