On a related note, is Wimbledon the most prestigous of the Grand Slams?  I'm just asking as the players tend to say it is, but then they're being interviewed on BBC, do they say likewise about the other tournaments?

It generally would be. Unlike the rest of the Grand Slams which have advertisers splashed everywhere around the court whereas Wimbledon holds strong on the fact it's all about the Tennis. Much like the Masters in Golf IMO it would be the one everyone wants to win!

Yeah, I'd agree about the masters being the most prestigous, but you always hear the british open (The Open) winner saying that it's the oldest and most important, that he's dreamed of winning it since being a kid etc too...  There'll always be a bit of that playing to your audience of course, just wondering about the tennis situation.

Nadal was awesome in the French Open, obviously that's clay court but you would never expect him to be making a first round exit, made a shock second round exit last year too. Federer will fancy his chances to regain the title now. Djokovic & Murray will no doubt be in the running too..

Someone on BBC said that was Nadal's first game on grass this year. Presumably he was trading off preparation against stress on his knee as grass is apparently much harder on his knee problem than clay or synthetic.

Devastated that Nadal is out. Inexplicable to lose like that two years in a row, especially after he worked so hard to ensure he goes down as an all time great rather than a clay court specialist. Have been waiting for the next installment of Federer-Nadal at Wimbledon for five years now. Like Pacquiao and Mayweather, it doesn't look as if it will ever happen

Maybe others such as Raonic, Dmititrov, Del Potro can step up to the plate.

Though he's won 5 'Slam titles in the meantime, I don't think Fed' has been the same player as before since Nadal beat him in the astonishing final of '08. Just hasn't had the same air of invincibility I think.
