Second place ran a sub 2 as well and 3rd broke the previous record apparently.

I'm not buying it sorry.
He didn't.

Even if Sawe happened to be cheating (i don't think so) a Sub 2 hour marathon has been coming ever since the improved shoe technology came into play. 2 of them did it in this race and more will follow.

New Irish record of 2hrs 06mins set too.

Kenyan doping record very poor these days though. It's been coming that record though I would have a degree of skepticism about it.

Was less than a minute off it. At the end of a marathon. It's absurd.

A minute is a huge amount off world record pace for 5k.

Great to watch it live all the same.
Why?

Is there not testing at that level?

I read he was tested 25 times this past few months. Cycling taught me that it doesn't really mean much though as they're usually one step ahead of the testers. The Kenyans and other African nations have terrible doping records. Maybe I'm too cynical but like cycling if it looks too good to be true then it usually is.

It was a brilliant moment watching that today all the same. I just don't believe it's clean at that level. Adidas will sell some shoes with both the men and women's race winners setting WR in their new shoes. I've a pair of their Pro 4s sitting still in a box. I wonder would a not so skinny white fella with a dodgy knee run a sub 3.30 in them.
