Ok Ziggy/GDA...

I am not surprised that this happened.  Why?  Because the GAA is a nationalist organisation and makes no bones about this.  It is seen as a Political organisation that plays games and one with support / sympathy for republican terror.  Whether you agree or not is a different issue, that is how it is seen.  In Northern Ireland the polarised society has seen national retailers' uniforms get complaints from nationalists and a whole controversy over what flag Ikea would be flying or what flag was in their architects.  To me it seems just like shit for shat.   That is why I am not surprised. Are you surprised?

Ballocks Roger, these were 12 year old kids who are involved in an organisation which provides them with a sporting platform.

Im all for trying not to offend sections of the community, and Im loathe to use these words, but those that complained about these children are the scumiest bastards on the face of the planet. Id pay for each and every one of them to rot in peace.

Mark Allen through to the semis.

Its a pity the people of antrim let their town make the news for all the wrong reasons, especially when it should be receiving a little positive news.

St comgalls do some great work, especially underage.

Would these complainers rather see these kids not play GAA, and more than likely be young hoods round the area?

Well you did answer in a way
It is Nationalistic in it's outlook Roger but not in the political sense. It the sense of oneness that can be created from everyone doing their small bit whilst knowing they are part of a massive positive movement from within the confines of their own communities. It is ALL good. The isolated instances unionist quote regarding support for the republican movement whilst tenuous hold a slither of truth in some respects, but that should not take away in the way it does what the GAA is really trying to do. Their pointed focus meerly reflects there own uneducated/bigoted narrowminedness. The more open minded educated unionists should have the confidence to make positive comment on all the good things the GAA do for communities. When that happens then the knuckle draggers like watson won't be allowed to hold court with their perspective.

How do you view the GAA yourself in terms of what it does for communities?

I forget who mentioned a while back about Ballymena, Larne and Antrim town itself being sectarian anti-nationalist towns. What towns are friendly towards Nationalists in Co. Antrim so?
Inaugural Football Championship Prediction Winner.

This Councillor fella certainly let the oul' mask slip didnt he( the Sectarian hate filled cesspit of a cnut).
I'm sure he represents that 35% of Unionism that really wants the clock turned back to when Catholics/Nationalists/GAA etc were kept in their places.
Obviously the thing for the GAA at Co Board/Ulster Council and National level to do is to writet o Tesco demanding an apology and a substantial contribution to this Club, also  to ensure that Stormont's Department of Sport is bombarded with complaints and seeking an official letter to the effect that GAA people are Citizens entitled to parity of Esteem.
Also the UUP should be bombarded with complaints about their (see above) Councillor.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Probably nationalist ones.

Actually, scratch that.  Rasharkin has been a bit of a shit-hole this last while for all concerned.

I don't know which side to be more disgusted with here, the complainers or Tescos.  I am all on for people being able to voice an objection to something that they find "offensive"(sic) and in the circumstances it is not far for the idiot brigade to go to find offence at the 12 year old freedom fighters in their St Comghall's jersies.  The one thing that astounds me is that they are given creedence by a multi national company who are afraid that they will lose a few sheckels from the Rathenraw Blue Brigade.  That is the problem, these people are given too much air time, the way wee willie Frazer has been in the past, and their bitter agendas are further fulfilled.  The way to prevent a disease spreading is to isolate it ASAP.  The way to stop the idiots gaining a voice is to cut them off from their air supply.  Stop pandering to the whiners and whingers and things may move forward, give them oxygen and they will grow.

Not suprised, in areas where Unionism still holds the whip hand they still dont give a shite what anyone thinks.

I wonder what peoples take would be if they pitched up at the local tescos to find their shopping being packed by junior members of the orange order replete in collarettes  :o  ;D

Fwiw I think tescos should ban all this bag packing nonsense, its a royal pain in the ass having your bag packed v. v. slowly by some kid who you then feel duty bound to give some money too. If tescos want to support some local organisation or charity they should do it by putting their hand in their own pocket instead of inconveincing me and expecting me to shell out for it.

Good post.

'The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing'

It is up to the fair minded unionist supporters to voice concerns at these objections, and the attempt by their counciillor to bring back the bad old days.

Why would they pack your bag for you when they seem to be under the impression everyone can pack bags like superman.
