Quote from: Quarterbackk on May 09, 2026, 09:10:17 AM98% of the footballers in Tyrone are Club footballers. Think of the player that was defeated in the championship September 25 - - Or the lad that hasnt made a county team or college team - He hasnt played football for the best part of September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May. 8 Months of the year. And then everything is crammed into 4 Months - Overload fixtures, More Injuries. Clubs paying management teams for 4 months. Its a farce.

The clubs need to take a stand - and hurt them when it counts - the club championship. The only time the county board bothers about clubs is when they can make a fortune of money from them to help sail the County football.

All this talk about Tyrone Championship being the best.  Bullshit.  Is it the best for developing players when they only get 1 game a year in championship. - No.  Its the best for generating cash and thats what clubs need to come together on.  Give them a proper set of fixtures - a start date - a Holiday period in July and not a rushed 4 month season.

Refuse to play in championship until its sorted - Then you affect the cash generating machine.

Lol.

The words of a man who doesn't understand how Gaelic Games administration works.

There is not a county board executive in Ireland who wants anything other than club leagues to be run off as efficiently as possible.

The problem here is the clubs and for want of a better description, their belief that when you divide 10 by 3, it's possible to create an even number if you keep going long enough.

This thread is quite funny to be fair.

Tyrone hurlers in Croke Park in a few weeks time. A strong NR campaign. Finish the group at home to rivals Armagh next week-end. Two teams on different trajectories this year.

Tyrone club football really does suck.
I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. All Ireland Club - 2030.

The Bearded One

So I guess that's the start of the intermediate and senior leagues pushed back again. A shambles really.

Is there anything from preventing clubs looking into to playing games if both are in agreement? The back end of the league is going to be a mess.
It is what it is. Presumably.

Why? GAA master fixture plan is the final fixed for next Weds.

CCC have indicated this all year so that games start Fri week?

What's changed?

Due to playing Kerry and the involvement of both teams in the Seniors on the 23rd 24th, the final will likely be on the 30th.
And Tyrone leagues likely to throw in on the 5th June.

I've seen posts blaming the county board and posts blaming the clubs. Like most people, I don't know who's to blame at this stage, I just know who's suffering most from it — the ordinary club player, id say roughly 95% of all players.
Most clubs started pre-season around say December. By the time leagues eventually start on June 5th, that's basically a 6-month pre-season for a huge majority of lads who aren't county players and never were or will be. Yet still training 2/3 nights a week, gym work, challenge games, while not even knowing when the season is properly starting.
It's not just football either. People can't book holidays, weekends away, work trips or organise family stuff because everything is unknown.
I understand clubs wanting their U20s available, especially the likes of Loughmacrory, Cookstown, Fintona, because they'll play huge roles for them this year. Fair enough. But realistically they are the minority. Plenty of clubs have very few or no county U20s.
Then when it finally starts, everything gets crammed into a short window leading to fatigue, injuries and fixture overload. Every player will be burnt out, county or not.
The worst part is it nearly puts ordinary club players in a position where they don't want the U20s to keep winning because every extra week delays their own season and holds up the rest of their life too. I'm not intending to hammer the U20s or the county team, but at the end of the day, club players are people too, with lives and other commitments. Year on year being left hanging as to when they can finally commence the league that they too train and work very hard for.

With the number of club players in Tyrone surely they could start the league without the u20s? As you say not convenient for the majority of club players.

I don't want to trivialise the situation but we are supposed to be working with a split season. I don't think we have collectively recalibrated since the split season has been introduced. We now have a split Calendar, county first, club second. Club teams should not be out in November/December/January. Our county underage teams are perennially good, so this should be expected and factored in

If leagues have to be restructured then so be it

Themanupnorth

I am near certain that the county board sent out an email couple weeks ago the the club leagues will be starting the 29th may at the latest

Probably would have been factoring in the All Ireland Under 20 final as being Wednesday 20th May as it was meant to be but with Tyrone v Kerry being opposite ends of the country it would be hard to make people travel to say Portlaoise on a Wednesday night. Then as a previous poster has said, Kerry seniors play Saturday 23rd and Tyrone seniors play Sunday 24th.

Perfect storm really, June is a complete disaster

Championship draw done. Be hard to call any of those games at this stage in the year

Quote from: thebigfullforward on May 14, 2026, 06:33:05 PMChampionship draw done. Be hard to call any of those games at this stage in the year

Ill attempt the impossible here.

Division 1
Loughmacrory V Dungannon Loughmacrory beat Dungannon who I can see starting to falter in their d1 status
Coalisland V Clonoe This will be built up and will be a damp squib Draw with Clonoe winning replay
Killyclogher V Errigal Ciaran The Barista men will be lucky to be within 10 pts of Gods Sons Errigal Ciaran
Omagh V Moortown Moortown lucky to still be in the division easy victory for the City men
Trillick V Galbally Trillick will walk this
Edendork V Ardboe This has the makings of a great game but the tall cross men will be too green just yet Dorks to win
Eglish V Donaghmore Contentious one perhaps but I think Eglish walk this Donaghmore likely to be in freefall with Bradley at this stage i'm told.. with Logan unable to settle the ship
Carrickmore V Dromore Carrickmore will use this game to lay a marker down to the whole county but more importantly their neighbours the county champs.

Division 2
Aghyaran V Moy Moy win this as the Donegal side age and numbers not coming through
Cookstown V Drumquin Drumquin use underage success and a decent 2025 campaign to overcome the home of bleached blonde hair and white adidas preds
Greencastle V Beragh Beragh will win both the fight for the mountains above Carrickmore as well as the football game
Clogher V Pomeroy Probably the hardest to call in the division, Pomeroy edge it with a bit of experience and some of the counties oldest stars
Rock V Kildress Kildress to beat their neigbours convincingly
Gortin V Naomh Eoghan Gortin win this and Naomh Eoghan Get back to playing soccer for Ardstraw
Owen Roes V Aghaloo Aghaloo to win handy and as a result Owen Roes will be relegated
Kileeshil V Derrylaughan Derrylaughan will beat Kileeshil and they'll blame the lack of a bad smell on their poor performance

Division 3
Fintona V Urney Fintona win this and aim for a junior championship
Stewartstown V Strabane Stewartstown win this narrowly in a dull affair
Eskra V Augher Augher by a handful

Derrytresk V Killyman Derrytresk beat killyman with the remnants of a 2011 all ireland finalists panel...
Glenelly V Castlederg The Derg beat Glenelly in a swashbuckling affair
Brackaville V Tattyreagh The Tatts beat Brackaville
Clann Na Gael V Brocagh Clann Na Gael beat Brocagh at their leisure
Donaghmore III V Drumragh If Drumragh lose this they should fold
Errigal Ciaran III V Cookstown III Having learned nothing from last years fiasco Errigal "shits" as their affectionately known line out with a full forward line of P. Canavan D.Canavan R.Canavan (Errigal win)
Prelim Winner 2 Stewartstown V Omagh Stewartstown win comfortably in this
Prelim Winner 3 (Augher) V Prelim Winner 1 (Fintona) Fintona will beat Augher

Ill revisit at the time and either gloat or eat my comeuppance

I'm not sure what's worse, You predicting on championship games before a ball has even been kicked in the league or actually thinking Dungannons senior status is beginning to falter.

That is just crazy talk Mr Smort, and you know it fine well. How else is Mr Mercenary expected to line his pockets throughout these months to pay off his mortgage, pay for the family holiday, put kids through Uni, buy new car?? Ohhh, won't somebody please think of the children!!
