Texas embracing Trump's mail ballot fraud bullshit.

Forcing each county to have a single drop-off point for those who would rather drop it off in person than stick it in the post, given all the Trump admin-caused problems with the post office.

The county Houston is in has nearly five million people!

Anything they can do to discourage voting. That's the GOP. They know can't win with a large turnout.

Trump is the president - like him or loathe him.
He was voted in by the American people.

His policies on business and doing everything to keep the economy going/creating jobs are admirable (from the limited knowledge I have so bear in mind it is all IMHO).

His policies on nearly everything else including climate change/BLM etc etc are f**king disgraceful and should be roundly condemned.

He was voted in by the electoral college. The people overwhelmingly elected Hillary.
That's just nonsense talk unfortunately. The 'popular vote' is irrelevant, which can be seen by comparing the turnout in battleground states compared to blue/red states. The electoral college vote is based purely on the vote of the people in that state.

If the vote was based purely on a single whole country ballot, then it would be different than the current popular vote, because turnout would be different. Saying someone else would have won if the rules had been different is just juvenile.

The American people voted in Trump, unfortunately,
It's a minority rule system

Minority rule systems are inherently undemocratic

Is there any movement in the USA that is trying to scrap the electoral college system?

Yes. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is a way for the states to scrap it without the need for a constitutional amendment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Popular_Vote_Interstate_Compact

So far it's up to 196 of the required 270 electoral votes with legislation pending in a further 64 votes' worth of states. If we get  Puerto Rico in as a state than that might change the math a little in its favour, depending on how many EVs they end up with.

You sure he's got it? I thought it was only Hope Hicks who's got it, and allegedly he's banging her.

Still a big deal that he's going into quarantine though.

At least if they have to debate via Zoom it'll be easier to mute the microphones!

Gabriel_Hurl

He has posted that him and Melania both got it

omochain

White House statement confirms that both Trump and Melania have tested positive for CoVid 19.

That's one way to get out of a second debate.

It is what it is.

Trumps tweet page is a good read, "first time Melania has been positive around Trump"

This was inevitable I suppose. Think about the amount of people they would meet everyday. Same as boris.
He's a big age, and wouldn't exactly be a picture of good health, so there's always the danger this puts him out of action for a while. It's exactly 2 weeks to the second debate, hard to see that going ahead as planned now.
Expect to see Mike Pence do alot of heavy lifting in the next 2 weeks.

Some people on twitter really not covering themselves in any glory with their reactions either.

Trump and the people will not have helped themselves with their attitude towards and practice in regarding masks and social distancing. You never know what their attitude towards hand washing etc given above and some of the madcap ideas bandied about

A positive test is not in itself a reason to defer or cancel the next debate. Operationally there are ways it can be done. Obviously if Trump develops symptoms and is impaired by those then yes it would be wrong for it to go ahead.
