QuoteDid the Republicans take over the electorate in the south, the home of segregation and institutionalized racism, for the first time in 100 years after the civil rights legislation or did they not ? Did two different chairmen of the RNC in recent years disavow the use of race as a wedge issue by the Republicans in the south or not ?
Yes and yes though what that has to do with strengthening your case for the Tea Party being racist is very strange to say the least

For someone who lambasts other people for using strawman arguments, you're (once again) no slouch at using them yourself.

Why don't you go and show where and when I said the tea party was racist. Go ahead.

QuoteYes, obviously not every single individual person motivated by race moved the Republican party,
Just a quick refresher for you;
"the fact that the racists deserted the party and switched to the Republicans"

You see this is a clear example of the spectacular, hateful indoctrination
and fabricated facts that the left level at conservatism on a daily basis
....throw enough shite and some of it is bound to stick, so to speak.
you should be ashamed of what you're throwing out
there as facts in an effort to shore up the socialist agenda.

"Socialist agenda"??? Where the f**k have I mentioned anything to do with socialism? Christ you seem to see everything through the fog of talk radio and right wing talking points!

My comments were in response to your telling someone to brush up on the history of racism in the Democratic party. Fair comment, but its also very fair and pertinent to point out that when it comes to accommodating racists and using race as a wedge issue, the Republicans, whether for political reasons or ideological, have a more recent history than the Democrats.

So no, I am not ashamed of anything I said and stand by it.

Blame whoever you want but the right v mad right divide in the States seems to be heading towards making the place ungovernable. It seems particularly venomous when there is a Democrat in the White House.

When there's a Democrat in the White House and Republicans control Congress they say that that the President should do whatever Congress says and to do otherwise is to "ignore the will of the American People."

When it's a Republican President who refuses to do what a Democratic Congress wants then the Democrats are supposed to suck it up.

And when the White House and Congress are both controlled by Democrats then they're supposed to do what Fox News opinion polls say.

To summarise, the far right in America are a bit like the unionists in Northern Ireland. They only recognise the authority of the majority when they themselves are in the majority, and any time 'themuns' take control fair and square they complain about the system being "undemocratic".

To summarise the summary, the right has a hard time understanding what democracy actually is whenever they're beaten.

To summarise the summary of the summary, they're full of shite.

Yes it was, the last time there was a Democrat in the White House the Republicans impeached him. If this guy gets a second term God knows what they will do.

Well maybe its about time you grew a brain and stop assuming every single person falls into your neat little talk radio or whatever-informed stereotype and address what people say and not what you assume.

As for whether or not the whole tea party as a group is racist, no, I don't think that.

See, its not that difficult to answer a question.

I feel sorry for all the people who vote Tea Party and think they'll be taken care of.
The Republican elite wants to destroy the government safety net that keeps tens of millions of people from destitution. Look at Paul Ryan's budget plan

Slash spending. No tax rises.

WTF is that?

And Rick Perry's jobs plan. $2 above minimum wage is good enough. No it isn't.

I also  doubt that MikeSheehy and Tyrone's own are plutocrats who benefit from the Bush tax cuts.

You have to take your hat off to the Republicans though. They get people with nothing to vote to protect the wealth of multi-millionaires.

58% of all income growth in the US between the 1976 and 2007 went to the top 1% of the population. The top 0.01% or 15000 households had 1.7% of all income in 1976 and 6.04% by 2007. By 2004 the top 1% of wealth holders in the US held 42% of all financial and real assets, the most unequal distribution since the 1920s. The top 20% held 93% of such assets

the vast majority of Tea Party voters are outside the top 20%

Ah the great democrat speaks! :D :D :D

I have news for you numpties, each side is as bad as the other, pelosi is every bit as bad as the extreme right wingers, a horrible bastard if ever there was one and the democrats act every bit as badly as the republicans when there is a republican in office.

The democrats in Wisconsin actually ran off like rats leaving a sinking ship after Scott walker got elected Govenor of the State, they lived in Illinois to stop the democratic process and they were brought to heel in the end under threat of jail time.

I hate it when democrats run this State, I hate it when the liberal Doyle was Govenor and he spends millions fixing up Lombardi Avenue, which just happens to be the main thoroughfare for Lambeau Field, yet in the same week he cut funding for children with learning disabilities, the sad thing was Lombardi did not need fixing up, it was fine the way it was. Thats just one example.

Obama has the country in debt never before seen in the history of the world, the unions in this country are ran by gangsters and the left stands for nothing at all except courting the rights of illegal aliens and keeping the poor that have no interest in working in food stamps and unemployment money, in short they make me sick and I hop

e to feck a moderate republican gets elected, the problem is I dont see a viable contender among the field to date.

Debt to GDP was way higher post ww2, Stew. After WW2 the US had a jobs plan. It put veterans back in college and developed industry. it didn't destroy social welfare. It didn't follow austerity for the benefit of the richest 1%.

The FT reported on a field hospital that was set up in Los Angeles at the weekend for people with no health insurance.
