Yep. 8-2-0 finish to the season, winning last five in a row. 8)

Alisson's goal now officially attains legendary status.

Much to do this summer though.

Never was a truer word spoken.

Dropping two points in that game would have been a disaster for Liverpool and IMO they grew in confidence from then on.

Klopp rode his luck but he needs more cover across the park as he's run these lads into the ground.

Though with the way the results worked out, Liverpool would still have finished third if Alisson hadn't scored.
Which is true of course but you'd wonder what the blow of losing points to West Brom would have done to them, might not have gone to Burnley and won. We'll never know of course but it has to go down as one of the most important goals scored for Liverpool this season or any season IMO.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

There was a key VAR call prior that made it even more important.

The VAR call was correct, despite Big Sam's whinging.

This is from the FA website. It couldn't be any clearer. The example even shows the attacker outside the 6yard box (this was just one misinterpretation floating about last week). Just because Big Sam doesn't realise the rules have changed doesn't mean he's right. Now enough of this nonsense.

Looking like the Konaté transfer is about to happen.

Liverpool will raise his summer transfer window funds by selling Nat Phillips and Naby Keita.

Can't see Philips being sold. Keita,Origi, Shaq maybe the Ox even could be sold alright.

I can see Phillips sold. Matip, Virgil and Gomez to come back. Plus Philips has been on the shop window playing regular football competently. He will have plenty of suitors. Edwards to work his Solonke fee magic!

Not a chance we sell Phillips (or at least I hope not). Perfect for 4/5th choice and brings something different than the others. Plus add in Matips and to a degree Gomez's injury record, he will get plenty of playing time

quit yo jibbajabba

If gini ox and keita go thats quite the overhaul and suddenly its midfield thats looking light. Bissouma seemingly heading to Arsenal. Will be plenty of activity youd imagine

What's the word on VVD ? Not with the Holland squad so injury lasting longer than planned

An intense tournament is the last thing he'd need for rehab. Not like he's coming back from a twisted ankle.

I think a lot depends on what Phillips himself wants.

Is he going to be content to be fourth or fifth in the hierarchy when he's finally made his breakthrough at the age of 24? Or does he want to move to a club where he has a realistic chance of challenging for a starting place? I'm sure salary comes into it too.

I could see Kabak being happy enough to make his move permanent and learn for a year or two and see where he's at after that, but he's a few years younger.

Phillips has been very good overall, especially over the last month, and is clearly learning quickly, but he still has a few weaknesses which a team supposed to be challenging for the league and Champions League titles cannot afford in a starting centre half. No reason he couldn't be a success at one of the weaker PL clubs though.

I read that he saw what happened with the Wolves player Jonny and decided to skip the tournament rather than go when 70% fit.

Apparently Jonny came back after six months earlier this year, played for a month or two, and then did the knee again. Basically didn't give himself enough time to fully recover.

Supposedly the advice the club and Van Dijk got was that you need at least nine months of recovery time.

You have to feel for him on a personal level, quality defender who will be 32 next tournament, probably no point him playing for the Netherlands again.
