New Real Madrid star Kaka would like to see Liverpool's Xabi Alonso become the latest recruit for the new generation of 'galacticos'.

The Primera Liga side have already captured Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul Albiol, while an offer for Lyon's Karim Benzema has been accepted in a phenomenal summer of lavish spending.

Alonso is a target and Real have made no secret of their admiration for the former Real Sociedad ace, with reports of a bid in the region of £30million being prepared for later in July.

The 27-year-old's future is unclear after a rumoured bust-up with boss Rafa Benitez and, after playing against the Reds with ex-club AC Milan in the 2005 and 2007 UEFA Champions League finals, Kaka believes the Spaniard would be a good addition.

"I've played against him in two European Cup finals," Kaka told Spanish media when asked about Alonso.

"He is an excellent player and Spanish so he would be very welcome."

So any thoughts on young Mickey Owen going to United lads?

Have to say I always thought he might end up there eventually. Owen's main focus during his career has always been A. His pay packet and B. His England career. So a move to United will probably help his chances of getting back into the England squad for the World Cup even though Capello doesn't look like he rates him anyway.  Owen was a strange case. The Liverpool fans appreciated his talents when he was younger but never really took to him like they have others which was especially surprising as he came though the Liverpool youth system. When he sloped off to Madrid when Benitez arrived (after saying he wanted to stay) his stock took a tumble with the fans but I think they'll be pretty much finished with him now. A sad end to a youth product of the club as I expect he's going to get it from all sides at Anfield next season. If he even plays. Which he probably won't.

I hope that Liverpool hold onto Alonso anyway, Mascherano can be replaced, certainly not by Lucas, if its inside the squad plessis is probably the player most like Mascherano but he certainly isnt good enough to start regularly or at least wasnt the last time i seen him

Gerrard should never be left in central midfield, he doesnt protect the defence or hold position, he has one place he can play and thats up front. He roams free and creates opportunitys, but he is not a playmaker or a holding midfielder, hes a play finisher

Kenny Dalglish is to return to Liverpool FC, it was confirmed this afternoon.
Dalglish will assume a senior role at the Liverpool Academy and will also act as a Club ambassador working with the commercial side of the business around the world.
 
Managing Director Christian Purslow commented: "In our very first meeting Rafa and I agreed that we wanted to try and bring Kenny back to the club to help Rafa really drive forward our Academy which is at the heart of our plans for the future. We are delighted he has agreed to join us and I am sure he will be very successful in his new role back at the club."

I don't hate Owen. His talent is his own and he can do what he likes with it. I still feel a little sick though. Won't be able to look at the 2001 FA Cup final, well, ever again
