What do you all reckon will be our strongest line up?

I'll go for

------------------Reina--------------
Kelly------Carra------Agger----Johnson
-------Gerrard--Lucas--Adam-----
Suarez-------------------------Downing
----------------Carroll-----------------

Bench from Doni, Kuyt, Raul, Skrtel, Flanagan, Henderson, Spearing, Maxi, Aqua (if he's still about)

AZOffaly

Don't like Suarez out wide and I can't see Dalglsih doing that. I think he sees Carroll and Suarez as a one two punch up front.

There's also an element of horses for courses, as I reckon games against Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc will see a more cautious approach, especially away from home.

Along the lines of

Reina

Kelly/Flanagan  Skrtel  Agger/Carra  Johnson

                Lucas

Kuyt         Gerrard         Adam

                 Suarez
                   Carroll

Subs to come on Downing, Aurelio, Maxi, Henderson, Cole, Spearing

Then games where you need to win (and we've been losing/drawing in the past few years)

Reina

Johnson  Agger Skrtel    Aurelio

               Adam

Henderson/Maxi                                  Downing
               Gerrard

        Suarez
                Carroll

Subs to come on - Lucas, Kuyt, Flanagan, Kelly,

It's actually great to have options. LFC has almost two for every position now.

Bingo

We may have two for ever position but some of the two have alot to prove or are new signings and have to prove their worth.

I think the form of the defence in preseason has been one worrying thing. While they have rarely been at full strength, they still shipping 3 goals a game. Obviously missing Reina is one factor but Lucas in front of them has also been a big factor. Kelly at CB hasn't really worked, so maybe he'll go back to RB for this season with maybe Carling cup at CB.

The season home game against Sunderland is massive, we've been slow starters in past and it vital to take 3 points at home. I really think Suarez will start and according to Gary Gillespie yesterday he has rung KD and asked when he is wanted back to be ready for the start of season. A draw or lose at home, puts big pressure on going to Arsenal and getting a positive result.

Do u really think Downing wont start every game?
Will Johnston be fit for the start of the season?
Will Gerrard be fit for the start of the season?

Given that those 2 havnt  and prob wont play any pre season games and suarez will only be back with the squad a couple of days i could see the team against sunderland being something like this;

Reina
Kelly
Skrtel
Carra
Robinson
Henderson
Lucas
Adam
Downing
Kuyt
Carroll

With Johnston, Stevie and Suarez to be given half hr each to be ready for arsenal game.

AZOffaly

The question was strongest lineup. I think there are different lineups depending on circumstance.

whitegoodman

Apologies, misread the question.

Still think Downing will be in every team when fit, he is an outlet on the wing when the team is under pressure against the big boys and can create against the lessor teams who park the bus at anfield.

Anyone know if stevie or johnston are going to be fit for the first game?

Latest rumours suggest Diego Forlan on loan.

Bingo

That would be a curve ball. Him and Suarez defo have a great link together, i'd guess he'd be third choice but would be a great player to have off the bench while been equally fit to start in his own right.

Where you see this?

Numerous reports from across the internet have linked Liverpool FC with a possible loan move for Uruguay and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan.
The 32 year old is prepared to leave the Spanish capital this summer however Liverpool are not prepared to pay a transfer fee for a player with very little, if any, sell on value. His wages are currently very high and the Anfield club would be required to pay 100% of them if they really do wish the former United striker to join them.
As a former Manchester United player is remains to be seen whether the goal scorer – who was poor for United – would be a welcome addition to the Liverpool side. He scoring ability cannot be question whilst at Atletico but his form in the Premiership will not give fans too much optimism.
Liverpool are still looking to add a striker to their squad but are looking for value, should Forlan moving to Anfield become a reality it would be a situation many will monitor very closely.

forlan rumour all over twitter now, but not from anyone reliable.
footybunker is usually pure crap

why would athletico loan him out?they are only after selling aguero aswell
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either

paco

He was poor for Atletico last summer, on some occasions he was even booed off the pitch by the supporters. Atletico are being linked with a lot of strikers at the minute (including Dzeko), so it wouldn't surprise me if they got rid of Forlan.

new devil

Hopefully he would still make the scousers cry  ;)
