AZ, KM et al - if ye still have a free spot in the house for Saturday I'll join ye. I've a match at home in Sligo on Sunday so I'll be keeping it fairly between the ditches but I'll be about for the 2nd night alright.

By the way, anyone with a colour printer and time to fly around hanging up signs on the Tee Box for Friday? (I'll do Saturday)

Declan

Can we take 4.48 teetime ? Croi, Dinny,LB - presume this is OK.

I can print the colour tee box signs AZ if you get them to me by tomorrow evening and will be able to give a dig out putting them up - providing I can drive the Buggy!!!

Bud Wiser

Saturday Tee off Times are from 10am to 2pm going off every 10mins.

We also have a group of ladies playing between 12-1240pm so anything outside of these times are good to go!

Thanks Declan, but I was just on to Bud there, and he actually has a Laser printer and a Laminator, so we're in good shape for the Hole Sponsorships (if we get another 8!!). I'll still send you on up the rules if that's okay with you.

Bud, can you put me (AZOffaly) down for a tee time around 1 ish? We are the united nations coming from Armagh, Kerry, Offaly and Mayo, and some of us have a bit of a drive that morning, so 1 o'clock would be great.

Declan

No probs - I'll PM you by email address

Bud, one of my groups has to go out as early as possible so can you pencil them in for 10am.

I've 9 lads for Saturday - should I go with 3 teams of 3? Its only a disadvantage to the teams themselves isn't it?

That works for me Declan, I'll aim to be out there for around 4.30 so & will give you a shout then.

Right lads, this is the draft of the rules I'm proposing to send to Declan. I'll fire it off after lunch if I don't have valid objections by then.

Latest Draft of the Rules.

Texas Scramble Rules
1.         Each team will consist of four players.

2.         All players can tee off at each hole.
Please Note : South County (Friday) - Men from White Tees (6645 yards) , Ladies from Ladies Tees (5518 yards)
Tulfarris (Saturday)     - Men from White Tees (6745 yards), Ladies from Ladies Tees (5696 yards)

3.         The nominated team captain then selects the best drive and marks the position (within 6 inches) with a tee peg (not nearer the hole).
A minimum of three (3) tee shots per player to be used.

4.         The other players then retrieve their golf balls.

5.         The player whose ball has been chosen then plays his next shot first.

6.         The remaining players then play within six inches of the tee peg (not nearer the hole). If chosen ball is in a hazard, then all other balls must be also played from the same hazard, within 6 inches, and not nearer the hole. Note! Golf balls shall be placed on closely mown areas (fairways and greens) and dropped if the chosen ball in play is in the rough or a hazard.

7.         The above method of play is followed until the green is reached.

8.         On the green the same method applies. The ball chosen is marked by a putter head length (not nearer the hole) and players putt from the same spot in turn.

9.         Each player must mark the ball after putting. Play continues from each chosen position until the ball is holed. Do NOT hole out unless you wish your stroke to count. Missing and then 'tapping in' will both count.

10.        The score is the total number of shots from the chosen spots (including the tee shot). Note! If a player putts and misses but then inadvertently knocks the ball into the hole, then that score counts.

Handicaps

Individual Player Handicaps will be assigned as follows.

GUI Handicap Holders = GUI Handicap
Non Handicap Golfers = 18 Handicap
Novice golfers = 22 Handicap

The Team Strokes Received will be calculated as follows.

(Team Member (TM) 1 Handicap + TM 2 Handicap + TM 3 Handicap + TM 4 Handicap)/8 (eight) = Strokes Received. (Rounded Up if .5 or greater)

At the end of the round the total for each hole is added together to give the total gross score for the round. The Strokes Received (see above) are then subtracted to give the net medal score for the round. The winning team will be the one with the lowest medal score. (note, not Stableford Scoring)

Please note, teams on Friday will be competing with teams on Saturday. There is not a separate competition for each day.

All other rules of golf apply to the "Ball in Play" In particular please be aware of Rule 14.2. Team members are not allowed to position themselves on or close to an extension of the line of play or the line of putt behind the ball.
