Very sad news indeed.

Didn't get too long in the end. Everybody had a great word on her.

Great person and great athlete.

RIP Ciara.

You just never know what's round the corner.
So young. RIP

Ball Hopper

Didn't last long at all...a truly great person.

RIP Ciara.

God love her, that is desperately sad.

When you appalling human beings who get to live into their old age spreading hate and division, and a decent, noble person gets cruelly taken down in her prime, just when she's reaching the apex of her career.

RIP. Tragic.

Unfortunately that seems to be the way of it. Trump, Putin and Netanyahu all 70+.

Tubberman

Desperately sad.
She seemed such a lovely person, living a life that was full of purpose and perseverance and promise.
A terrible loss for her family and for the country.
God rest her.

Tough for her husband, family and friends but leaves a great legacy.

Agree with all of the above 100%.

I can remember listening to her interview with Thomas and Oisin on GAA socials and can remember driving home from Bangor with tears in my eyes listening to her and her story and as soon as I heard the news yesterday I couldn't get that out of my head. A truly lovely lady and good person taken far to soon...RIP Ciara

I don't normally get upset about the deaths of celebrities, but there's something different about Patrick Stewart. The way he delivered his lines was convincing, and the wisdom of the characters he played was profound. He brought a gravitas and dignity to the role of Captain Picard that was inspiring to me as a kid growing up. There were many memorable quotes from him that were a big influence on me, and changed my whole outlook on life.

This scene from the much-maligned Star Trek: Generations film was very moving for me at the time, and it hits even harder now.

Indeed. Cancer is incredibly cruel like that. Seem to strike at random and doesn't care who it takes, or how old.

Jesus de Miguel. Tenerife footballer who was Schumacher-ed by the opposition keeper during a match on Sunday. Horrific.

Just saw the incident. Sorry but wtf is the keeper doing? Never ever should be allowed on a pitch again.
Walks away after it too.

Reminded me of the ice hockey murder.

Probably more stupid/wreckless than premeditated like that one though, tragic.

You think the ice hockey lad deliberately done that?

Tragic what happened last night. Looked like one of those fouls that you had to do as the boy was breaking away. Obviously, the impact was very strong and he seemed to lead with the knee which is something that goalkeepers are trained to do. The ball seemed to be right in the middle of them so you would hope he thought he could get the ball first and I don't think for a minute the lad set out to hurt him. Once he made the challenge he knew he was off and started walking straight away, heard the commotion behind him and went back presumably to check if the lad was okay. Horrific stuff really.
