It was also Robinson in the mysterious black car that met Bryson in secret in the pub.

With every passing day, the OO look increasingly desperate and out of ideas.  It didn't take a strategic genius to predict how this would play out.  A legal ruling like that is fine on paper, but the reality is that once there was a gathering of residents on the road, it's chessmate.  Either the OO, Bryson and Lockhart were too thick to work that out, or they were just playing a silly and dangerous game to create tension and division.   Would be interesting to know whether other lodges tried to put any pressure on Portadown at any point to step back from this - because of the implications for other parades if this had kicked off.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Not one unionist leader had asked for the OO to reflect on their demand to parade down the Garvaghy Road. In fact all the unionist politicians are still going after Michelle O'Neill. Until that changes there will be stalemate.

You'd imagine you've seen most things to work out how this pans out, but I've no idea how this ends.

A legal ruling in favour of the GR will probably see the OO abandon current principles and stage their own protest in some form.

Jamie's reputation (in his head) is on the line too.

I've been trying to work this one out too.

Is it a PR disaster for the OO and Bryson because they have (so far) failed to get 35 down the road and in doing so have mobilised a dormant nationalist movement?

Or is it a win for Bryson and his handlers as it has stirred up a culture war he has recently written a book about?

Ultimately the lodge won't get down the Garvaghey Road and the status quo will prevail for the foreseeable future. Really the only winners from this will be the DUP and SF who needed a culture clash to boost their election hopes 12 months out from election day. God forbid the electorate would focus on their record in office for the previous 10 years.  ::)

Ni politics are the stuff of grievance. In no way is this a loss for Byrson or the OO, the Unionist mentality is a siege mentality and the outcomes here help reinforce their pre-conceived notions. I'm sure Byrson thinks he's the new Alan Dershowitz with all this trapsing in and out of courtrooms.

With them threatening the Fleadh next year, I wonder what the Belfast Bands Forum and the Shankill Defenders will make of Jamie and his new dinosaur mates.

That's the big loss here. Its certain that they'll try to hamper next year's Fleadh with some form of illegality. Even the threat of it alone will be enough to put off some visitors.

I wouldn't be so sure. Lots of people brought their kids up to Belfast for it this year. Would they be as willing if they thought Byrson was turning up with a loyalist mob to disrupt things?

That's interfering with commerce. Cops will crush that and Nolan etc won't be soft soaping them.

I don't think there's a chance of any disruption to it being tolerated. I think almost nobody on the unionist side will have any interest in doing so either tbh.

That's cause Bryson thought he was getting his Paisley-Trimble moment with Blackheart. He had the photo in the frame.

100%.
They were wanting the PSNI/RUC to beat the residents off the road like the good ole days.
