Quote from: DaleCooper on September 25, 2026, 05:22:26 PMShinners and the peace processors look pretty stupid. Complacency has set in and they simply have to way to deal with current realities.

Of course they arent in danger of being put "out of power" like in a normal place where performance matters.

Shinners have taken one hell of a beating from Loyalism and Unionism.

I think they're just useless. But make no mistake about who the bad guys are in this situation.

Supremacist bigots have got their way.

Watch the triumphalism on this one. Bryson's triumphalism on X around the failures of SF tell you all you need to know.

Stormont is done. SF can't stay in with these bigots.
Unsure what they could have done differently. They're abit useless but Michelle seems to have gone into her role in good faith to try and serve everyone, but when you're dealing with that shower theres only so much can be done.

Time for some sort of joint rule in preparation for a border poll

What happens on Sunday if there's a large peaceful protest on the road. Could you see the PSNI forcibly removing residents?

As much as the decision to allow the parade is crazy in my opinion, removing peaceful protesters would surely give anyone wanting it an excuse to kick off.

f**k any sort of joint authority as it will be used as a fudge to keep London involved forever better to rtn to Westminster direct rule and have a UI when the numbers are there which will be accelerated if nonsense like this continues.

Given the significance of this ruling surely this should be allowed.

What has changed besides a procedural error by the commission?

The legislation encourages root and branch examination of each application and precedent is not binding. The Court will have to allow a wide margin of appreciation unless something fundamentally wrong with the process.
Is it just process being reviewed in the HC or is merit of the application looked at again?

This is exactly Bryson's and Allister's plan. They want to be the victims. If the residents successfuly block the road and the orange men dont get down, it will galvanise Loyalism and lead to riots. If they do get down they'll triumphalise.

Its a lose lose or a win win whatever way you want to look at it.

They then use this to beat the drums harder, create more chaos for next summer, campaign on that Garvaghy Road as a case study shows nationalists intolerance in a United Ireland and further delays the border poll.

Meanwhile SF and SDLP are f**king useless.
100%

I see the PSNI said there will be no violence. Sure let's get the Scots in.

What else could be done at the minute? Agree totally with the rest.

I think he means in general. SF have to take a stand now.

Personally I don't see what bringing down Stormont achieves for anyone to be honest unless there's some sort of shared rule.

Simple solution is to let them down it. When the inevitable happens and they fly thr wrong flag or sing a sectarian song then they should be permanently banned.

In reality its a small win for unionists if they get to march. Its a major win for unionists if nationalists start a riot or a blockade.

I would be no big fan of the current SF or SDLP ensemble, but there is no working with the DUP/ TUV. If one side is so vehemently against the other that equality is viewed negatively, then how do you continue to make it work? It's impossible. There's only so many times you can bang your head of a wall before you get concussion.
Is it time for SF/ SDLP to walk out and declare no return to the current structures of government? Force fundamental changes? Start the process of looking for alternatives to Stormont. SF need to have a plan to deal with this. I would tend to have agreed with their softly softly approach in general in that, kicking the hornets nest is usually unproductive and turns into a tit for tat approach. But the issue with that, is that you can start to look like an easy touch. Do we need some civil unrest on the nationalist side to stop WM taking the easy option and pandering to the louder unionist voices? They might just get it this wkend.

I've no idea what keeping it achieves tbh, all over the news crying looking more money off the Brits now!

The same as it achieves  now - that would be nothing
