In reality its a small win for unionists if they get to march. Its a major win for unionists if nationalists start a riot or a blockade.
Mary lou raising the stakes with tough talk that there'll be no March. Doing her version of the Grand old Duke of York.

Catch 22 position if HC ruling is unfavourable. Riot and it is ammunition for Unionism for years & achieves nothing. Let them down with no incidents and its the parade applications everywhere can of worms.

Quote from: p3427977 on September 25, 2026, 06:15:55 PMWhat happens on Sunday if there's a large peaceful protest on the road. Could you see the PSNI forcibly removing residents?

As much as the decision to allow the parade is crazy in my opinion, removing peaceful protesters would surely give anyone wanting it an excuse to kick off.

This is exactly Bryson's and Allister's plan. They want to be the victims. If the residents successfuly block the road and the orange men dont get down, it will galvanise Loyalism and lead to riots. If they do get down they'll triumphalise.

Its a lose lose or a win win whatever way you want to look at it.

They then use this to beat the drums harder, create more chaos for next summer, campaign on that Garvaghy Road as a case study shows nationalists intolerance in a United Ireland and further delays the border poll.

Meanwhile SF and SDLP are f**king useless.
What else could be done at the minute? Agree totally with the rest.
I think he means in general. SF have to take a stand now.

Personally I don't see what bringing down Stormont achieves for anyone to be honest unless there's some sort of shared rule.

The same as it achieves  now - that would be nothing
Fair ;D

Will Bin boy and Alistair be part of  the group walking down the road?

Don't be so f**king naive. Been there done that. You can't give these c***ts an inch. They will be applying to get down the Ardoyne and Lower Ormeau next.

What's the alternate ? Blockades and riots with the headlights "nationalists denying lawful parade".

If there is ever to be a united ireland you cant be rioting for a walk down a road once a year.

Give them the inch because everyone knows they wont be able to stop themselves from rubbing it in. Nationalists can then take the high ground and say we tried.

Some man needs to offload his D9 and drop the rockripper and tear up the road like Israelis do in Gaza. Thatll sort it out.

See what the Court says tomorrow.
If it goes ahead offer them tea and biscuits and welcome them to Garvaghy.
They won't be able to handle it at all.

As mentioned before the 12th was in Kilrea, that is about 80% Catholic. In Rasharkin 2 weeks ago they lined up about 100+ Tricolours on the lamposts, was wondering why, there barely a Tri colour up, outside off the shop in the middle of the town in years. Wonder it gonna be bck again on the radar.

Unionists are playing a dangerous game. They are relying on moderate Catholics to vote for the union if there ever is a referendum. Things like this do them no favours.

I heard Jim Allister saying this week that Sinn Fein wouldn't want orange parades at all in a unified Ireland. It is only fair that orange parades would be restricted in a unified Ireland. Republican parade's are restricted now with UK rule so it is only fair that orange parades be restricted in a unified Ireland. He must not realise that orange parades have been allowed across the border since partition.

Out celebrating in Tullalley in Derry, with rioting in Top of the Hill a mile away, cops nowhere to be seen

Sportacus

If the court case changes nothing, do the residents sit down on the road on Sunday morning, and what do the police do then?  I can't see PSNI dragging people off the road so do they usher orangemen down the side? In a certain way it's actually farcical.
It's a pity young people are being exposed to it.  All the shite in the 90's was just depressing and dangerous.

So what actually was the change from the PC?

Why did they allow it?
