I get the feeling they are going to be let down it >:(

There are certain things from our recent history that must never ever be repeated. Garvaghey is one, Holy Cross is another.

To answer some of the earlier questions the Parades Commission are required by law to encourage where possible mediation and to take any outcome of or report on same into consideration.

Also it's ECHR not EU law they are hanging their hat on. Despite this I'm glad the UK is still in that.

I would not like to be the on call High Court Judge this weekend

But was the original case not that someboy on the commission, did not sign off the restrictions this year. How has the same restrictions not been applied, with all signatures, i know 1 resigned. Or is it the ruling been flawed from day 1??

Exactly this. Had a bad feeling about this for a while.

It shows the calibre of person within the DUP and TUV, who are out stirring this up, with their primary objective really only being the securing of re-election to the gravy train, when the reality is that there could end up being serious consequences as a result of this, with the potential of injury or fatality a real possibility to civilians if this spirals out of hand.

It was more complex than that. The JR exposed systemic failings within the Commission. Including how they weren't performing their function properly and weren't encouraging mediation as they were supposed to do or properly scrutinising each application and objection. They were effectively just rubber stamping each decision

Surely the Drumcree  application needed rubber stamping annually? The  bad years of the 90's, and  the potential for trouble and   mayhem alone is reason enough not  to allow it. Not to mention a  community under siege.

I recall in the 90's, the 'no talk no walk'  banners from the residents. The OO wouldn't talk because they knew they'd be eventually  let march down the road (facilitated by  the police battering residents off the road). A sort of  F**k you taigs , we don't have to talk to you  filth. Now they're claiming  they're all on for talking.

If the PC  cave, and allow it , the place will go back  30 years. The whole of the north , not just Portadown

Armagh18

If it's allowed, Shinners likely collapse Stormont? It's not fit for purpose anyway so wouldn't make a difference

Nice one :D

Seen  someone call Gavin Robinson  the honey monster lately.  Had to  laugh at that one

All of unionism getting  behind this bid.  Clearly  getting desperate

They're looking for some sort of a win to make the natives planters feel that they're still the "people"!

Natives?

Poor choice of word alright.

Will be shocked if a march with restrictions isn't permitted as it will, incorrectly, be seen as being the best of both worlds.

imtommygunn

Then next year more will be requested etc .

It's going to happen unfortunately  >:(

And then the outrage really begins.

None of this is about a march

Of course not. It's part of a wider "culture war" agenda pushed from bad actors in the North and further afield. Obviously the DUP are all over it as they're afraid of the TUV riding on the coattails of Reform and other nutters across the water.

Walter Cronc

If they get to march down it then Derry and Ardoyne need pulled for future parades! Not to mention every other nationalist town in the 6 counties. Rossknowlagh another - whether its more tea and ice creams or not.
