Unparalleled only in the West, or globally?

If the latter, I think that's incredibly naive.

I mean I did say the western world.

I'm not up here absolving western powers from atrocities. It is however 9/11 and no prior or post context changes the reality of that day.

Maybe I am exceptionally naive but we all remember where we were when it happened. Watching the second plane fly into the world trade center as I handed a now dead regular in the bar his lunch was an unparalleled experience that I still remember clearly. It wasn't just death and destruction, it was also designed to maximize the terror of the civilian population. That's my own personal experience and lasting feeling of the event.

Remembering Beverly Eckertt who turned down $1.8 million compensation so 911 families could bring a case against government to find out what went wrong.

She died in a light aircraft accident in 2009, just six days after being received at the White House by Obama.

Imagine trying to explain 2026 to people just before 911.

American Idiot is 22 years old. Imagine that album was written in anger at Bush. No one had awareness of how dumb things were going to get.

It is strange the effects that events can have. A guy I know was getting a job from a US multinational, who then froze the process after 9/11. So, being September, he headed off to to a Masters degree instead. No doubt such a course might redirect your future somewhat, but on this course he met his wife, so it had a major effect and he would never have met her except for 9/11.

A butterfly flaps it's wings and all that.

Then you hear of all the stories of people who were late/sick/slept in that day who were supposed to be there.

I was working at Short brothers in Belfast, it hit, or maybe was convenient at the time the aviation industry massively

Huge redundancies hit after that as the commercial and private airlines companies were hit with various contracts being cancelled and this led to lads losing their jobs.

The blame game continues and no loss of life in any war, conflict, proxy is worth it, pain of a loved one taken in deepest Congo through war is no different to a loved one lost during the Twin Towers attack

Never sure why people do that, watched a clip the other day, the fella, a loyalist, killed his work mate, asked him to help him fix his car, the fella drove himself to his own death, he dumped him in the boot of the car. The man served 12 years came out of jail and hung himself weeks after the interview.. no cause is worth the pain caused, it's perpetual though, pain and grief generates hate and revenge and the cycle continues

Israel aside, I do not think that was ever the MO of the US or UK in their responses and the execution of the "war on terror".

By whom?

I think some people feel that pain and suffering in some far away place in Africa is less to that when it was brought upon places like Madrid/Paris/London/New York and while that is a small small fraction of the carnage that goes on everywhere else, it was still horrific and terror

As said already and I've said it many times, there is zero hierarchy of victims and suffering, excusing/blaming is daft

My ask was meant to be who was responsible for the 9-11 attack?

It wasn't some yahoo stuck in a cave in Afghanistan, I think we all accept that.

I'd imagine there's  a  huge number still accepts  it was a yahoo in a cave in  Afghanistan.

Mossad/CIA either directly orchestrated or helped out or allowed it to happen? It'd be more of a conspiracy theory to think they didn't have a role at this stage.

Staggering the amount of "Do my own research" nuts around.

Do your own research. Draw your own conclusions. That's fine. Go ahead and wire your own hot tub while you're at it.

Yes. It was a lunatic team of 20 or so lads with box cutters on a plane (at a time when this was allowed) who killed the pilots and crashed the planes.
The passengers were threatened with a fake bomb story on board by the hijackers to keep them subdued, which worked until plane number 4, united 93, which by that time received word that the planes were being used as missiles.

Why is this so hard for some people to accept? Do they think that being the only one "in the know" makes them smart?
