Hectic

Semi finalists fairly easy to pick.

Portglenone and Dunloy are a shoe in and Cargin and St Brigids, while having to work a little harder, will be joining them.

BigGreenField

Is the semi final an open draw or does that depend on appeals of the quarter final results?

The 4 semi finalists should be relatively certain.

belfastsaff

St Galls and lurgan two teams with big ambitions and peoples dark horses gone.

skip to the semis now.... are repeat pairings allowed ?

EOC1923

Funny game at Glenavy, St Galls missed a lot of chances and were fairly well organised but it always felt Cargin would react and get the job done. This Ballymena game coming up the tracks where apparently they are using the fact Mick got his red card lifted to drive them onto victory against us. Oh wait..... ;D
Joking aside a lot of work to do for Cargin starting with Creggan in what looks a 50/50, Dunloy for me will take some beating, even the group they had afforded them to field a reserve team last weekend and no offence to Lamh Dhearg but I dont think they are up to offering Dunloy any sort of challenge. St Brigids will be getting stronger every week and Portglenone dug out a victory and now have a strightforward QF. Going to agree with BS and say its prob the most open one for decades. People mentioning Tyrone , its on a different level to our county unfortunately.

7 of the quarter finalists could win it which is a good place to be though the groups need to be looked at again as moneyglass getting tanked by 30 odd points cant happen in a serious senior championship.  -57 score difference,  sarsfields -67? my goodness

that shows how poor a team that has been allowed to take place in our showpiece event.

There have been other mismatches too involving sarsfields, st pauls, glenravel and while they didnt get embarrassed, Randalstown are in those thoughts.  Thats 5 teams so far off the pace its scary which is way too many for our senior championship to carry with any credibility. 4 of these teams cant be allowed to stay in the senior championship next year.  Those lower ranked clubs wont vote for it but something needs done.

Portglenone the only contender with a safe passage. Seem to get a nice draw every year  ;)

the other 3 games will be tight enough.

Quite funny how the boys who are constantly on about the amount of teams in senior championship are so quick to mock a team up from intermediate a few years and are trying to kick on. Took creggan down the home straight yesterday missing some important players. They werent cocky in saying they would beat Creggan. Confident they are an established senior side and can mount a serious challenge.

Quote from: Sportacus on September 06, 2026, 09:08:43 PMWatched that Cross game today on tv.  Our championship is played at such a slow pace compared to that, it was like a different sport.

Big difference between knockout football and group round robin dross

Anyway, when do ballymena play Cargin?

Ach away on! Only for your aunty having no balls she'd be your uncle

Cross beat clan na Gael by 29 should they be relegated??

Bellaghy beat by 18 is Derry a serious championship??

They low teams come on more getting tanked than going down to division 2 beating Antrim town by 30 no offence to Antrim town or Davits,

belfastsaff

was at CK and ballymena - never a penalty. Cargin and CK is no longer a 50/50 its a 60/40 to cargin who will be hard stopped

creggan very efficient going forward but their lack of 2 shooters from open play will be the reason they cant beat cargin. Cargin will lock up at the back and concede no goals and creggan can chip away at the 1s until the cows come home so wont be enough

St brides should make light work of the johnnies to , starting to tick at the right time and already got their reality check in game v cargin.

lurgan no adam loughran really hurt them missing another forward to pull something from nothing but they had 3 games to prove themselves and didnt but at least another manager has laced their pockets  ;D

Context is everything.   Cross reserves would beat any of those struggling teams in our senior championship.  The aim is to improve the championship standard and make it more competitive, a better watch and increased crowds. Not make it worse so the flotsam don't get tanked and get a participation medal so they can feel good about themselves.

Surely Cargin weren't involved and was all one way traffic? Any appeals coming?

That's a salty post and a half

Around the glens

Was hardly anything in it, 2 men grappling other. Only question would be be how only 1 got booked.

As for the quaters , would expect pg1 to be too much for Rossa
Id say the same for st brigids v the johnnies
Cargin creggan a derby could well go to the wire.
Dunloy to get by LD who will put it up.

Semis open draw.

Now into proper championship hopefully there will be national anthem played at games  e must be only county not to have it done properly talk about poor standards and bad organising
Maybe today we will hear where the quarter finals will be played take Antrim a few days to organise four venues rather than like any other county releasing them as soon as last championship of weekend is over just amateur hour as usual but as expected
