🏆 Intermediate & Junior Quarter-Final Championship Predictions

FRIDAY

Fintona v Drumragh — This has upset written all over it. Fintona come in as one of the favourites for the whole thing, while Drumragh are massive underdogs with absolutely nothing to lose. All the pressure is on Fintona, and I can see them slipping up when it matters most. Drumragh by 2.

Owen Roes v Cookstown — Game of the weekend for me. Two very evenly matched sides and this could go right down to the wire. McShane is obviously the massive danger for Owen Roes, but if Cookstown can somehow keep him quiet, I think the Town men take control and make it a much more comfortable night than people expect. Cookstown to win.

SATURDAY

Errigal Ciaran v Stewartstown — Errigal will have a proper crack at them and probably hang around for a while, but Stewartstown should eventually have too much quality. Errigal will give them a scare, but it won't be enough. Stewartstown by 5.

Greencastle v Rock — Don't expect this one to be getting replayed on TG4 Classics anytime soon. Could be a fairly boring, cagey affair with neither side wanting to take many risks. Rock to grind it out and get themselves into the semi-final. Rock by 3.

SUNDAY

Derrytresk v Castlederg — Another really interesting one. Castlederg will fancy their chances, but championship football is different gravy and I fancy the men from the Hill to find a way when it matters. They'll be booking themselves a place in the semi-final. Derrytresk by 4.

Naomh Eoghan v Aghyaran — After yesterday's game, I'm backing the Donegal men here. I wasn't overly impressed with Naomh Eoghan against Gortin, and I think Aghyaran have enough about them to punish them. Could be tight, but they'll get over the line. Aghyaran by 2.

Tattyreagh v Brocagh — Potentially the least competitive game of the weekend. Tattyreagh are massive dark horses for this championship and I don't think enough people are talking about them. Brocagh have a couple of dangerous forwards, but across the pitch I just can't see them living with the Tatts. Could be over long before the final whistle. Tattyreagh by 8.

Pomeroy v Derrylaughan — Pomeroy should be far too strong here. Derrylaughan will battle away, but once Pomeroy get going I can't see them being stopped. They'll pull clear in the second half and march into the semi-final. Pomeroy by 5.

Loughmacrory/Dungannon v Omagh - Loughmacrory tried to coast through in 2nd gear, won't make that mistake again
Clonoe v Edendork - Edendork to live another week, 1pt in it.
Carrickmore v Donaghmore - Carrickmore's year, fancy them to finally end the drought
Trillick v Errigal - Trillick injuries will be the difference, Errigal getting stronger

Intermediate

Owen Roes v Cookstown - Cookstown's pace wins it, OR legs will be exposed in Healy. Not a good record here.
Pomeroy v Derrylaughlan - Pomeroy by 10+, all their eggs are in the Champo basket
Greencastle v Rock - Greencastle to edge it by 1/2
Naomh Eoghan v Aghyaran - Naomh Eoghan double dream to stay alive. Fairplay to Aghyaran disposing of a Moy side who were heavily tipped twice.

Junior

Fintona v Drumragh - Fintona eyeing up Croker 2027, this could be their toughest test on route.
Castlederg v Derrytresk - Castlederg v impressive last day out, good mix of youth and experience should see them through this
Errigal III v Stewartstown - Stewartstown win by 5
Tattyreagh v Brocagh - Tattyreagh will be fancying their chances with a few of the big men home. Expect them to go deep - draw dependant.

Cahair O'Kane has posted the clip Galbally have complained about on social media. They have a right to be annoyed by that. Its a shocking bit of refereeing albeit Conroy has likely been let down there by his linesman. Probably be thrown out but good to see a bad call like that get the spotlight shone on it.

Why what's wrong with it?

Because Galbally are claiming he recorded the point before going back to the booking. Therefore the point should have stood as per the rulebook. I'd imagine Galbally have consulted with their club referee and not just pulling this out of their ass.

Nevermind the alleged miscommunication or equipment issue for the linesman getting word to Conroy. It's clear as day in the video Conroy watches the incident with his own beady eyes and allowed play continue before going back reversing score and awarding the free the other way..

what could the linesman possibly have said? "Martin please my ACCA depends on trillick" doesn't make a lot of sense from the outside looking in but presumably it's all in the report so the appeal will be decided on the contents of the report.

Can't see in the footage if the referee records it or not. Nor can you see any signal from him when they scored the "point", only the umpire. Next time we see the referee he's in conversation with the linesman.

Predicting the men from Carmen to take the division one title and end the drought once and for all.

On Friday showed nothing good enough to make themselves strong favourites to most but they got over the line with a poor performance and sometimes that's a better sign than others.

Errigal are the most likely to win this championship in my opinion especially after a strong showing last night but I just get a feeling that this could be carmens year.

This championship is so wide open and there's no better time for the much talked about tradition of carmen to come
Back out and reclaim the senior title after a long long time.

Errigal impressive yes, against a luckluster killyclogher side but. I was impressed by them as many were but again killyclogher were tragic. Trillick not impressive at all and barely got over the line against a galbally team that they on paper shouldn't be struggling much with. If in your opinion carmen are to be ruled out by a poor performance surely that would rule out the men from trillick aswell?

The difference is Trillick have proven time and time again they can get it done when it matters. One poor performance doesn't erase that. Carmen have been tipped to bring the tradition back plenty of times now and we're still waiting. Errigal are rightly favourites and Trillick have the pedigree. Carmen still have to prove they're more than a nearly team.
