Beirnes free under the Cusack was unreal. Ice in the veins. Andy deserves serious credit for putting maximum faith in them as it instilled belief and they paid back in spades.

Side note. rte player acting up...why dont they just upload whole shebang to youtube?

Very unassuming and affable and doesn't seem to take things too seriously. I think people like that in a person. A good trait to have.

Well done Mayo.

It's good to see a team with no real inhibitions giving it a real cut at it irrespective of the wides and mistakes, they kept going all out attack at every opportunity and forced their will on Kerry.

The best way to win IMO.

Well done the referee. Yes he made mistakes, the double bounce point, Murphy buying the odd free out when it looked like he'd be dispossessed, etc, but in all he let them at it and had no bearing on the game and that's the best outcome for a referee in that they just blend into the game and not front and centre of it.

Geezer was right when he said there is no real defending other than high press...and thats usually the forwards.

Defenders are completely exposed so you "simply" need to shoot and hope efficiency is good. Id argue Mayo didnt panic because Andy just beat into them "keep shooting and staying postive itll come".

Its refreshing tbh after the safety first shite that was plaguing football. Look at ROD ball into Flynn. "Crazy" stuff but almost got a goal.

Jesus, even the outside of the boot pass that started the move for the last point. The world was telling him to run down the clock yet he just went for the jugular.

Class. Tommy Conroy had Kobe steaming into the box and should have fed him for a goal to wrap it up but took safe option. That would have been an incredible cherry on top. Flynn should have goaled as well.

What a role model for kids ROD is...as was mentioned his skill in tackle is next level for a forward, how he can get his feet and stand up right helped by his boxing experience.

Not to take anything away from Mayo, however the referee was key.  He allowed Mayo to attack Kerry ball carriers relentlessly - as any good referee should have done.  Often when Kerry defenders were under pressure I expected them to get a free out.  I suspect there are many high profile officials who would have given Kerry benefit of doubt a few times.  Not yesterday.

It was great officiating.

Agree thought McNally was excellent. To be critical he let the steps go abit much and Beirne got away with a double bounce, evened out though with Kerry defenders getting lucky a few times coming out and grabbing the Mayo forward tackling them

Caught up on the Beeb late last night. Niblock said a Seanie O Shea tapover from 20 years was of "obcene quality"

From 7th min to 14th min [DC goal] barely anything happened and Hession was key to slowing game down wasting Kerrys scoring potential whilst sacrificing their own. It takes massive guts.

They also seemed to draw kerry closer to goal to avoid 2pt efforts. Jacko will face serious scrutiny on tactical front.

thebuzz

Can't see Jacko not being at the helm next year if he wants to be there. He'll probably be there for Kerry's 40th.

The important thing there  was putting the ball dead , and wasting a  few more precious seconds.

Had he fisted it  across,  and Kobe fisted it towards goal, it might have been saved , and Kerry  hoofed it up  before the hooter.

He made the correct  decision. Even had  Conroy fisted  wide ,  seconds  were wasted. Either way , the game was won with that decision

Plus they're at Féile soon also.

I still hope goes to Australia.  Too good an opportunity for him to miss from a personal point of view.

I hope he's not swayed by the emotion of yesterdays win and homecoming etc.

Ah he'll definitely go. As a neutral hopefully he comes back in his early 20's and we get to see his best years here.

Depends if Mayo setup a "Kobe fund" but its done deal, its actually amazing he was there for this year considering contract etc.

Had he born a month later hes not eligible. It is mythological stuff. The Gods were on Mayos side.
